"Okay, let's try this again. Concentrate. I'm not going anywhere."

The older boy's eyebrows furrowed and he nodded, his hands gripping the bars tighter. Luhan stood across from him, his eyes never leaving his best friend's face as he struggled to start remembering how to walk again. Aside from losing his memories, having a slight speech impediment, and having to relearn how to walk, Minseok looks exactly the same as before he went months on end in a coma. It took quite some time before the doctors let him get out of bed, but Minseok didn't mind because was always there to support him when no one else was. He was eternally grateful for his love and support, and it makes sense why they're the best of friends.

Minseok doesn't remember everything he and Luhan have done, but there are some points in his life that were so deeply embedded into his memories they were impossible to forget. The day they became friends, the day Luhan made him a better person, the day they won their first soccer tournament, and so on. There are some things Minseok knew he forgot, but he had hope he'll remember them. He looked up and narrowed his eyes, focusing his concentration on his balance and his feet. With one deep breath, he took a step forward and paused. Luhan gave him a reassuring, confident grin and Minseok simply nodded, mustering more of his strength and taking another step. About 8 months of being in a coma, and about two more of having to stay in the hospital bed afterwards certainly had its effects, but Minseok isn't the one to give up. The room was filled with nothing but Minseok's panting and grunts, but in a blink of an eye, Luhan planted his hands on Minseok's shoulders and pulled him into a hug.

"You did it, old man."

"Hey, I'm not even that old," Minseok muttered, but nodded simply. Luhan grinned and pulled away, helping Minseok to a nearby chair to rest. The little deer had hopes that one day, the two of them will be able to play soccer once again and do things they've been dreaming of doing since they were kids, like rock climbing and hiking in some of the national parks around the world. But for now, he's going to stand by his best friend's side and grow strong together. Unlike his other friends, Luhan will never leave Minseok's side.

They are best friends after all.

And best friends stay together until the end.
