❀Moonlight Sonata was our Symphony.
It was the kind of piece that moved a person; made them think and feel, and think and feel some more.
It's range so wide and vast, it made you reach a little harder. It was emotionally overwhelming to hear so many different tones within every movement. With its wavelengths of sound and simplicity, it became not only that of what we heard, but what we saw.
Every tune became a clip in our frame wheel. Every key signified every moment. Flashing like strobe lights. In and out as our memories played amongst the echo. The way I felt when the keys of the piano hit my ear drums was almost euphoric. It became easy to get lost in the world he created through his finger tips.
This world that became our lighthouse.
I'd imagine us there in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by angry waters as the waves engulfed our lighthouse. Idle as the melody flowed through our bodies and intertwined our heart strings. It was moving to be able to share such a connection.
He would reignite that moment and take us back to the light house whenever I wanted, whether it was the morning of my birthday or the evening after a funeral. Between him and I, there was no such thing as begging. Because he too liked watching me entranced by what he could accomplish; by the power he carried around with him every day.
Nobody would even know till he sat behind the piano and got to work. But, that was okay.
The sight of his hands gliding across the checkered keys became my refuge.
A refuge now forgotten.
