Mika's Leap of Faith

Mika is a bright and ambitious 19-year-old, with a sharp mind. She is Japanese but also fluent in English, which helps her in her pursuit of becoming an engineer. With her birthday fast approaching on August 24th, 2037, Mika was determined to win the upcoming Gecko climbing competition on August 14th, and secure the scholarship that would help her achieve her dreams. The competition is in exactly two days. She would have to create her own Gecko pads like everyone else in order to enter the competition. Mika is the type of person to never give up when her chances seem slim. She's stronger than a honey badger, and they don't climb glossy walls out of solid glass. She's unstoppable until she meets this boy that flirts with her before the competition. She doesn't let him distract her from her goals, but the boy persists on taking her on a date after the competition. She declines his offer unimpressed. The boy is introduced as Joshua.

Joshua enters whatever competition he sees fit. He will do anything to make others fail and be unsuccessful while he comes out on the top using underhanded tactics. Joshua plans to make Mika fall off course, so he could win. He saw Mika as a threat to his chances of winning the scholarship for his animation career he invested in. Little did he know that Mika had some tricks up her sleeve and she wasn't afraid of using them.

A woman on the speakers makes an announcement, "Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to Best Gecko Pads: Tallest Tower! We're thrilled to have all of you here today, ready to show off your skills and compete at the highest level. We know that you've worked hard to get to this point, and we're excited to see what you can do!! WHOOO!

Before we begin, I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge our sponsors and partners, without them this event would not be possible. Their support and generosity have made it possible for us to offer some amazing prizes and rewards, so let's give them a round of applause.

The audience claps, and the competitors are getting their gears and safety gadgets.

Now, I know that you're all eager to get started, so let me go over a few rules and information. Copying ideas or causing harm will result in disqualification and charges. Cheating is allowed, but playing fair earns an extra prize of $500. The competition date is today, August 14th, 2037, at 6:45pm on Glidden's tallest tower, near the ocean. If you give up, press the button on your safety vest for $150, but you will be disqualified.

With that said, I wish you all the best of luck in the competition. Remember to have fun, stay focused, and give it your all. Starting in 3 minutes!"

Mika is confident but anxious especially if she knows that Joshua is a competitive and aggressive opponent. She is determined to do her best and has trained for this moment for a long time. She double-checks her gear and gadgets, making sure everything is in place, and tests her Gecko pads to ensure they stick well to the glass. As she looks around, she notices that everyone else is doing the same, except for Joshua, who seems to be focused on something else. Everyone is on each side of the tower since every side is made out of glass. There are groups of two on each side, meaning that there are eight people competing. As the competition is about to begin, Joshua feels a mix of frustration and anger seeing Mika's confidence. However, he remains confident in his tactics, believing that he has what it takes to win. He takes a deep breath and focuses on his strategy.
