Moving on Prologue

Such a pleasant ceremony, not only was her new home, husband and friends safe, but also she and her husband had been coronated king and queen over the domain, truly a momentous occaision that put a great smile on not just hers, but everyone's faces, and she was exceptionally glad that the Hylian who saved the domain and made this possible, the man her dear Sidon looked up to most was here for it too.

For the short time she'd known him, Link had proven himself to be a kind, good spirited man, always eager to help even without any promised reward, truly he did live up to all Sidon had said about him.

Only, something was off with him during the coronation ceremony, when the two were announced king and queen, she saw him, though his exterior was the same calm and collected form he always took, his eyes looked... mournfull. The eyes are often called the window to the soul and for good reason, no matter the fake outward appearance, the eyes can tell of a person's true inner self, and Link held the eyes of loss, like seeing her and Sidon had robbed him of something of his own.

This troubled her for days it loomed on her mind as the hero hovered around the domain a bit longer to help with any smaller problems and sniff out treasure. Had she done something to offend him? Did she look similar to another zora that had wronged him? Was he perhaps, jealous of her and Sidon? Did he want Sidon for himself?

No, no, she was going too far to assume anything like that of him, he was clearly a good man, she was just letting her mind run wild after one glimpse of his eyes, it could have been anything, no need to assume the worst.

She decided to try complete his zora armour set to maybe rectify any misgivings he may have had about her, though she couldn't find either the helmet or leggings because of how well hidden they had been. Though he did talk to her about it and even found them, and when she spoke with him there was no ill will or sadness behind his eyes anymore, maybe she had been incorrect.

It was here she began to wonder about the zora armour itself. Zora armour was constructed by zora princesses for the man they wished to marry, as was tradition, for him to be wearing that... well it did bring up questions. Though the last living zora princess died over 100 years in the past in the great calamity and Hylians didn't live nearly as long as the zora.

She had asked Link after repairing it why he was given it, all he told her was that it was given to him so that he was able to help deal with the divine beast causing the zora trouble a few years ago just before the defeat of calamity ganon. She supposed maybe it was something princess Mipha did craft for her loved one, but since she died they kept it safe and gave it to Link because they had no other choice, but recent events made her wonder.

About a week later Link left for death mountain, with his departure she felt calmer but still a little unsettled due to the matter still being unresolved. He'd done so much for them all but clearly he wasn't doing well himself. Curiousity overcoming her, Yona asked Sidon what his past with the zora was, to be worthy of such a set of armour.

"What? Did he not tell you himself?"

"Well no, though I didn't ask him outright myself." Yona admitted. "I didn't want him to feel uncomfortable or like I was prying too much since he'd only known me for a short time."

"Mmh, that is understandable my dear, though I'm sure he wouldn't have minded. Though I doubt he'd mind me telling you as well so I may as well." Sidon giggled slightly.

He then told her of the Hylian champion that fell to the calamity 100 years ago, his name was Link, and he was put in a shrine to heal from his wounds, a process that took 100 years. Mipha, fellow champion and Sidon's elder sister, had known Link since he was very young, and developed feelings for him once he grew older. She had spent weeks crafting zora armour for him, to his perfect size as was tradition, in hopes she may one day marry him, but just after she finished it, was the day of the calamity, where all the champions, save Link, died. Though he didn't know about this and had since lost his memory, Link was told of all this after he returned to Zora's domain after awakening, and eventually he did remember more.

"Oh my! That poor soul. That explains it." Yona accidentally thought aloud.

Seeing her and Sidon happily married and coronated king and queen, probably only reminded him of Mipha, and what could have been.

"Hm? Explains what?" Sidon asked, puzzled as to what that could explain to her.

"Well, during the coronation ceremony, I'd noticed Link looked... mournful, like he was looking at a lost loved one." Yona admitted.

"Ah, so you saw that too. Mmh, it is most likely that he saw us and only thought what could have been, in no ill will of course."

"After all he's done for not just us, but all Hyrule, it's truly upsetting knowing he has no happy life of his own to return to when the day is over."

"Yes it is a shame. I wish there was something to be done but of his feelings my good friend will speak very little."

The zora royals went back to their duties, each holding a prayer in their hearts that one day the man who saved their home could find a way to move on and live a happier life.
