The next following days, Marie would always go after Anne, she didn't seemed to mind her presence, which was strange, usually, having people annoyed her, but with Marie was different, she was ok.
Quickly, they were deemed the school's freaky girls, sitting alone at lunch time and doing PE classes just by themselves, or just being next to each other, like children paralleled play, they paralleled did their things.
Their dynamic was strange, Marie would do most of the talking, and Anne would nod, agreeing or disagreeing, rarely she would say something.
Lunch time came and they sat together next to some flowers they thought were beautiful, some vibrant red roses, Anne liked to feel their thorns. She also liked to compare herself to it, just like the rose she was beautiful, but twisted in a way, full of thorns, which would be her imperfections, those that made her who she was.
"Pretentious bullshit." Marie laughed.
"My life is a pretentious bullshit." Anne circulated the rose's thorns with her fingers, pressing so hard against one she started to bleed.
"You're bleeding." Marie was worried. "Let me see."
She held her finger and looked at the blood coming out of it.
"Is it hurting?"
Anne nods as in no.
"Ok then."
Marie puts Anne's finger in her mouth, the metallic taste of the blood was sickening.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm a vampire."
Anne removes her finger from Marie's mouth and looks at it.
"You drooled all over it." She cleans her finger on her shirt.
"But you stopped bleeding."
Both were sitting at the bar table, the punk band was playing some relaxing song, weirdly unexpected.
"Long time no see." Anne said, her voice was just the same as she remembered. She was wearing a black dress and a jacket.
"Indeed!" Marie got her beer mug up. "Cheers!"
"Cheers." They both drank a little bit.
"Man, I can't believe it's you, it's like seeing a ghost." Anne said.
"Maybe I'm a ghost, and I came to haunt you."
"That would be the best haunting of my life." Anne smiled.
After some seconds of silence Marie said something.
"You know, my day was being so trash, but then I saw you." Marie said and Anne's eyes lightened up.
"Glad I could help." Anne drank from her beer "So, how's life going."
Anne took some seconds to answer, she felt like she was in the calm before the storm, she had this feeling things would go wild.
"To be honest, I don't know." She laughed. "Pretty meh I think."
"Oh, why?"
"Private stuff, you know? life's not that great right now, but at least I'm alive."
"Yeah, mine also isn't going that good right now." Anne stopped. "Problems with money, and alcohol."
"Yeah, you always abused it a little bit too much." Marie laughed.
"You were always there to control me, when you left I had nobody to stop me, guess that's a win?" She smirked
"You working?" Anne asked, after more seconds of silence.
