This was his denial. As an addict denies what he is and justifies it by comparing it to addicts who are worst off. He could not see or simply justified it in his own morbid way. Yes it's a different form of denial because he took it to a new level that a person of a normal psychopathy could probably never experience or understand. but it's still the same symptoms and results.
Just as an addict continually chases that ultimate high. He did the same to find the ultimate way to kill. The one that would be the ultimate mental and physical orgasm. This included rape, necrophilia, and dismembering of the bodies. He searched for that ultimate climax. Just like an addict searches for that ultimate high. Ted was not about control. This played a big part but not the deciding factor. The ultimate high was to kill. Everything else was just triggers and symptoms.
Even when you find that ultimate high. As an addict you are never satisfied and compelled to experiment and chase it more. Sometimes you may find a good combination but it is never enough. In my personal opinion, as an addict myself. One who has experienced these emotions, feelings and or non feelings. Who if you really knew me, you would say I am a bit weird and maybe a little bit crazy. A Narcissist in some ways but one who has deep compassion and fully capable of showing sympathy and empathy towards all forms of life. So you can assume I am not psychopathic. Ted on the other hand was.
Now you combine being a full blown addict with being psychopathic. With all the factors and symptoms put together with the narcissism and everything else. You create a monster or in Ted's case. You become a monster. This is where the relation to and identifying with Ted increases. As addicts, we become monsters ourselves. We will do almost anything to get the next one with no self will or control. Just as Ted did with the abductions and murders. Addiction leads us to three places. Jails, institutions, and death. Ted went to jail was on death row and eventually executed. He was a soci/psycho- path. Just like an addict, once he started he could not stop. So I will say it one more time. Ted Bundy was an addict And his drug of choice was murder. 🖐😏
This is just a brief synopsis. Comment if you see any other relations that I left out.
