Over the next couple of days, I stayed in my cell. I barely left and barely ate anything. Daryl and Glenn occasionally stopped by, but I ignored them.
"Hey, sweetie," Lori said coming into my cell. She sat down on the bed when I didn't respond.
"Hershel is finally ready to get up and start walking. How about you come outside and get some fresh air?" Lori asked, and my eyes flooded with tears, "Oh, honey. Come here."
She pulls me to sit up, and I lean into her crying. After a couple of minutes, Beth came over and said, "Daddy's ready to go."
"Okay, we'll be there in a minute," Lori said, and Beth walked away.
"Thank you," I said.
"For what?" She asked me as I pulled away from her.
"For being there. You're the closest thing I've gotten to a real mom even before the apocalypse started," I said. She smiled and pulled me into another hug.
"I'm always here for you," she said and pulled away, "Now, ready to go outside?"
I nod, and I grab my handgun, shotgun, and pocket knife.-Lori and I help Hershel from the front as Carl and Beth help from behind him. He hops his way don't the stairs and onto the pavement.
"You cleared all those bodies out?" Hershel asked as he used his crutches to walk towards the fence looking out towards the field, "It's starting to look like a place we could really live in."
"Hey, you watch your step. Last thing we need is you falling," Lori said.
"All right, Hershel!" I heard Glenn yell from down by the fence. He, Daryl, and Rick are coming back through the outside fence with wood.
"You're doing great Daddy," Beth said.
"Ready to race, Hershel?" Carl asked jokingly.
"Give me another day. I'll take you on," Hershel said causing Carl to chuckle in response.
I noticed everyone stopped what they were doing to watch Hershel. Rick, Daryl, and Glenn are down by the fence where we first came in and Carol, Maggie, and T standing over by the cars to our right. I heard shuffling behind me and I turned around. A group of walkers came out of nowhere and we're headed for us.
