She gazed at the blurred patch of red and orange, forming the shape of a small stylized sun with eight long rays, with a nostalgic expression. It had been there, right on her wrist from the very beginning, and at that moment, it seemed brighter than ever. It covered her veins like a tattoo, accentuating her radiant and fair complexion. Her gaze lost itself in the void, troubled and contemplative. She heard the sound of slow footsteps from the hallway, a sound she knew perfectly well. When the footsteps ceased, she deduced that he had stopped at the threshold of the spacious bedroom where she was, but she didn't feel capable of facing him and thus avoided turning around. She lifted her head and peered out of the large wooden window against which she leaned. Her gaze landed on a White Ipomoea planted some time ago in honor of the moon-chosen ruler. It stood in the vast expanse of green that belonged to his palace and was by no means modest in size. She looked up at the sky, which was tinted scarlet as the sun was about to set beyond the jagged mountains of Lys. That spectacle always captured her gaze, filling the emptiness she carried within.

She immediately felt an irresistible desire to open the window and leap into the void, spreading her wide golden wings. She wanted to fly. She yearned to feel the wind slicing her face as she gained speed and lost herself in the flaming horizon, leaving all worries behind. When she heard a steady breath behind her, that fantasy dissipated. She had traversed a long, winding, and dark path that had led her to him. This was the only place she wanted to be in the entire universe. Her plump cheeks blushed as her expression softened, making her appear again as she should at her apparent twenty years, restoring her luminous beauty. The shining armor she wore might have seemed heavy to an inexperienced eye, but it was actually made of an incredibly lightweight and durable plate specially crafted for her. It glittered whenever touched by the faint rays of the sun, giving her a strong and elegant appearance befitting her resolute spirit. The wide and pompous red velvet skirt fell perfectly on her hips, revealing her slim and not overly long legs through the slit. On her shins, the emblem of the sun and moon, engraved in gold, adorned her. She pushed her copper-red hair away from her round and delicate face; they reached down to her waist, and she had always refused to cut them. They were wavy and unruly, but she liked them that way. When the light hit them, they took on an even more intense hue that drove her wild. She decided to share with him the myriad thoughts and concerns that had crowded her mind in recent weeks, never giving her respite.

"I often wonder if the version of myself in this moment still aligns with the present, the actual one. I'm trying to understand if I've already moved on. The thought that beyond in time there's another version of my self, both entirely identical and profoundly different, distant-it drains me. She is the future me for whom I am the past."

She paused, implying that she had more to say. She cautiously turned towards the young man who watched her, mesmerized, as if she were telling him a story that only he was allowed to hear-the most beautiful and captivating story in the world. He approached her without haste, his characteristic elegant posture, never taking his piercing eyes off her face. The girl tried to continue her speech with a softer and more veiled tone, still hinting at the anguish that had filled her eyes before.

"I'm sure that in the future, in the past, and here, now, you are everything that I and all the other versions of me could ever wish for. " She released the last words with emphasis and passion, as if they came from her heart rather than her lips.

His eyes never left her, and he drew her closer with a quick yet gentle motion, enveloping her with his muscular arms. She saw herself reflected in his large, clear, and sparkling eyes-magnetic. She was drawn to him like a celestial body was attracted by the force of gravity to another planet. She felt small and protected leaning against his robust and sculpted chest.

"I don't know what brought us here, we could call it destiny or simply chance. What I do know for certain is that from the oldest night of past times to the brightest and most recent dawn, I have always loved you." He whispered, caressing her face. "Beyond this dark and lengthy war, beyond every era, every story... I will be with you." His tone was filled with tenderness, attempting to sound reassuring and confident, as if he wanted to encourage or uplift her.

The girl's faintly marked features relaxed, revealing a small smile on her plump, rosy lips. It seemed that his words had worked, hitting her straight in the heart and easing her worries. Feeling comforted herself, she kissed him softly, and everything around them vanished.
