Chapter 9
"A fucking tree could fall on us."

Auroras POV:

"Alright guys, so here's the set up," Sam showed our sleeping situation to the camera, pointing out who's sleeping bags are whose.

Our bags of food and camera gear were all set up in between us, and we had already gave each other our own bags with clothes.

"It's about 3 o'clock right now, we got here at—1 ish? Right Rory?" Colby looked over to me, I nodded from my position on the floor.

I was out of frame at the moment, attempting to check on my leg. I had switched pants awhile ago, not wanting to stay in blood stained leggings.

I had just gone for the baggy grey sweatpants I stole from Colby like a week ago, and also his sweatshirt, which I had just now decided to take off due to the heat, with a cropped black tank top under it.

The cut wasn't as deep as we thought, luckily, but it certainly would leave a scar. It had already bled through the gauze pad, so I decided to try something else.

I put on a new one with some antibacterial gel on it, and wrapped it with one of those medical wraps, then tape, then the sock. It definitely felt a lot better for walking. Speaking of, I knew I shouldn't be up and doing shit, but there was no way I'm sitting around doing nothing. I can live with an infection, (hopefully) but I will not be able to live if I don't see this fucking island.

I saw Colby staring at me as Sam talked to the camera, so I gave him a thumbs up. He moved over to help me stand, which I appreciated immensely.

"How bad is it?" He asked quietly, I just gave him a smile and shook my head, "it's fine."

"You doing okay?" Corey asked as I made my way into the frame, I scrunched my nose at him, giving him a 'duh' look, which he returned by sticking his tongue out.

"Thank god brother, we were starting to panic." Jake threw his arm around my shoulder, and Colby's, pulling us both into him on both sides.

Corey groaned, "what about meeeee?" I held out my hand to him, he smirked, taking it. He lifted my arm so he could twirl under it, not gracefully whatsoever.

Colby held out a hand for Sam, who ignored it, instead choosing to jump on our backs.

I shrieked, holding onto Jake and Corey for support. I heard Colby laugh, taking on most of Sam's weight. Once we were in an incredibly uncomfortable position, Jake ended up collapsing, while in turn made Colby and I fall, then Corey, then Sam landing on top of all of us.

Good lord.

"Well," I said, ny voice muffled by Corey's body. "At least it wasn't a closet."

"So where the hell do you wanna go first? We have a few dozen options, we're currently in the housing building, where most people or workers stayed. We have a cavana, church, hospital, prison, a bell tower, an asylum, the plague field, the burning grounds—" I explained, listing them off on my fingers.

"Hold up," Corey intercepted, "a prison?"

I nodded, watching as the color drained from his face. I smiled, shrugging simply. "I'm just suprised he didn't start crying at another asylum—" Jake laughed.

"WAIT THERE'S AN ASYLUM?" He exclaimed, jumping up from his seat on the ground.

"Oh no brother, I'm getting flashbacks," he rubbed his temple, beginning to pace.

"Don't worry brother," Sam threw an arm over his shoulder, smiling at him, then over at the camera. "We'll be fine."

"Yeah, what's the worst that could happen?" Colby wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, leaning his head on my shoulder.

"Oh I don't know, let me think," Corey exaggerated the last three words, standing with his hand on his hip as he began to list things off. "Injuries, spirits, demons, ghosts, possession, I guarantee Sam brought an Ouija board, someone could drown, we could get stranded, a fucking tree could fall on us, someone could get lost, and, oh I don't know, we could die?!"

Jake clicked his tongue, "touche." After a moment, he shrugged. "Oh well."

Sam snorted, patting Corey's shoulders.

"Yeah, you are going to regret saying that, pretty boy," I teased, softly kissing Colby's nose.

"Probably," he shrugged his shoulders, which were pressed against mine.

"Alright, what do y'all say we actually start exploring?" Sam threw a small backpack over his shoulder. He had tossed a few extra batteries in there, a second camera, plus some flashlights in case we lose track of time.

"I'm down," Jake and I said together, giving each other a look of approval. Colby nodded, while Corey just huffed.

"Yeah yeah, I know, I'm outvoted."

I remembered something, quickly moving out of Colby's grip and over to my bag. I pulled out 2 walkie talkies I decided to bring last minute. They were the good ones too, I figured they'd be good to have, seeing as we can't really use our phones.

"I know we'll end up splitting up, somehow, someway, just knowing us," I handed one to Sam, who laughed. "So this way, we hopefully won't die as easily." I kept the other one in my hands. "Smart," the blonde boy nodded, "damn these are the expensive ones too."

"I could only get 2 on such short notice, so I figured the buddie system is probably the best way to go." After I finished, I felt Corey and Jake immediately cling to my shoulders.

"We claim her," they said together.
