Freshman year: 15 years old fresh blood.
I walked into EarthScience class on the first day of school. My insides felt hallow yet I wanted to puke. I never took first days of school well- always nervous and flimsy. The bell rang and echoed in my ears, everyone sat down and it became quiet. A man with a muscular build, not lean and cut, but big and bulky like a bear. He had tiny diamond earrings on both ears and his wide smile greeted us a good morning and introduced himself.
"Morning class, my name is Riley Cookes, but you kids have to call me Mr. Cookes."
He started talking about himself and the class rules, just the basic on the first day. During that week, I remember saying, " Cookes is looking good." But that was it. My freshman year wasn't great, but I did have classes I liked: English had a bunch of party animals that would mess around the entire period. Korean had a fun teacher and it was easy. Science had Mr. Cookes, I saw him as my mentor and someone I could mess around with or turn to when I did not know where else to go.
After one year, I would visit Mr. Cookes in his class when I get bored during the morning periods that I would have to wait out. We would talk about what was going on with our lives and I found out he was engaged and I congratulated him. He showed me a couple of pictures and it was pretty cool how open he was.
The middle of the year, I played a game at lunch with my friends. It wasn't much of a game. We just said which teachers was hot and who is not. I hated my freshman math teacher with a PASSION, so I said I would kill him (brutally) and as forwho I would do, I admitted Mr. Cookes is my go-to guy. Ever since then my little fan-girl crush grew little by little. Every time he goes to coach track or football I would stare and admire his body- the muscle every time he moved. It was innocent, it wasn't like I would ripped off his shirt and jump on him. It was more like looking at models....?
So the last day of school, I went to Mr. Cookes room for him to sign my yearbook. I told him I was leaving Reinen High School, he gave me a hug and went on. Mr. Cookes does this thing where he gives his social media account names to his graduated/departing students. So one day in the summer he messaged me and i replied hi with a picture of me and my sister, since I was hanging out with her. Then he tells me that she isn't as cute as me, which completely threw me off.
