A relaxing evening

A couple of days passed since Sendak woke up and everything was going pretty good as far as living with him went; he had a hard time getting to the bathroom after he woke up, but thankfully he made it on time with (Y/n's) help. (Y/n) gave him the privacy he needed, of course, because he was a person too and everyone deserves privacy. Every day before she went to work she gave him his pain medication and made sure he had enough food, water and something to do so that he wouldn't get bored, hungry or thirsty while she was gone. Sendak didn't necessarily feel lonely while (Y/n) was gone for the day, although after almost a week into his recovery he had the desire to explore his surroundings to see what kind of interesting things humans kept in their houses. Because of his amnesia he couldn't remember anything about his previous home aboard his old cruiser; he had a whole collection of items that he'd picked up from different planets decorating his room, unfortunately everything had been destroyed in the crash.

(Y/n) already scanned Sendak's chest with her x-ray tablet and thankfully he didn't have too much internal damage, unfortunately the gash grazed his lungs and his recovery would take a while. She mostly saw the massive fluffy male as a patient who needed her to help him heal, but that didn't mean she couldn't admit he was ruggedly handsome. While the young woman prepared dinner for herself and Sendak one evening she hummed one of her favorite songs, keeping an eye on the food on the stove/the timer so nothing got burnt. For dinner that evening (Y/n) was making (S/f/f) for herself and ten chicken breasts for Sendak since his appetite returned and he needed to eat meat, although she was also giving him a side dish of seedless watermelon cubes. (Y/n) enjoyed having someone to eat dinner with instead of eating alone like she usually did; being single was usually fun but there were times where she felt a little too lonely in her big house.

While she continued to prepare dinner (Y/n) decided to order some takeout from one of her favorite restaurants the next evening, knowing she could get something for Sendak there too. Cooking dinner took longer than she expected but soon enough (Y/n) was pushing her little serving cart to the spare bedroom where her large furry houseguest was able to sleep instead of him staying in her pet care room, although she had to buy enough blankets and pillows for him to make a nest-like bed out of since he wasn't able to fit on the actual bed. Sendak's ears perked up when (Y/n) entered the room while pushing her serving cart; the cart came with her house, but she never really used it because she didn't throw any dinner parties. As soon as he caught the scent of cooked chicken meat his stomach rumbled loud enough for (Y/n) to hear, if he wasn't covered in fur then she would have seen the blush that was undoubtedly dusting his cheeks. (Y/n) gave Sendak his food and a large cup of water before she sat down with her own meal, happy to finally have the opportunity to eat one of her favorite meals; Sendak thanked her before he started eating, grateful to have such a cute human taking care of him.

"Aside from being a veterinarian, what else do you do in life?" Sendak asked (Y/n) after a while, feeling more curious about her than before; they chatted from time to time, but their conversations usually weren't very detailed.

"Well, I have a few hobbies and I like to read from time to time." (Y/n) replied prior to telling Sendak about some of her hobbies, noticing the interested expression on his face; she didn't want him to get bored, thankfully he seemed to enjoy hearing her talk about a few of the things she liked.

On a normal basis Sendak didn't really care about what other people liked, he'd been too preoccupied with waging war like every galran commander, but since he had amnesia he forgot about his past conversation preferences. He used to enjoy light reading back before Voltron's return, unfortunately he hadn't read anything since then and his collection of books no longer existed. Listening to the petite woman near him was fascinating in a way, it gave him a new perspective of life on Earth and he enjoyed hearing about her passions. (Y/n) felt kind of awkward telling him a little more about herself, she knew they needed to get to know each other better but she wasn't used to being put in the spotlight, per-se. She told him a few other things about herself such as some of her favorite foods and a couple of her recent patients at the vet clinic, although she wasn't sure what else he wanted to know about her.

"I know that you have amnesia, but do you remember anything about your past? Perhaps a childhood memory or something?" (Y/n) asked Sendak with curiosity, wondering if he could remember anything about his past.

"I've tried, but my mind feels fuzzy each time I try to remember something. The closest thing is a vague image of a desert somewhere." Sendak answered, placing his right hand on the side of his head when the strange image flashed through his mind for a brief second, unfortunately he almost completely lost his memory.

"It's okay, don't force yourself to remember. I'm sure that your memory will slowly come back in time. You were able to remember the name Sendak and a desert somewhere, so that's a good start." (Y/n) replied, not wanting him to force himself to try to remember something since he needed to let his body and mind heal for as long as possible.

Sendak might not have been able to remember anything but he got the feeling that no one in his past aside from his family truly cared about his well-being and the way (Y/n) showed that she cared about him made him feel low-key flustered. For such a pretty young woman he was kind of surprised she was single, or he assumed she was single since she hadn't mentioned having a lover thus far; he didn't want to pry, of course, but he couldn't help but feel curious. (Y/n) and Sendak went back to eating after a moment of silence, neither of them wanting their food to get cold enough to where she had to reheat it in the microwave. Eating together the way they were made (Y/n) and Sendak feel awkward; they were completely alone together while eating dinner and chatting, almost as though they were on a date, although Sendak didn't know what a date was. He decided not to question her relationship status because he was only a guest in her home and he didn’t want to seem creepy.

Sendak and (Y/n) made eye contact for a moment which caused (Y/n) to blush; they quickly looked back at their food; she wasn't  expecting their eye contact to make her lightly blush, she honestly didn't mind feeling butterflies fluttering around in her stomach, though. (Y/n) figured it was because she'd been single for so long and now she was letting a huge, fluffy, ruggedly handsome galran man living with her in her house. She was thankful that she got paid really well, otherwise getting enough food for Sendak would have been really hard seeing as he was much larger than a human which meant he needed more food in order for him to be healthy; she wondered if he would hunt once he fully recovered, but only time would tell. It wasn't long before they were finished eating dinner, leaving their dishes mostly bare aside from a few traces of scraps that could be either thrown away or rinsed off. (Y/n) would have to put the dishes in the dishwasher in her kitchen before she returned to Sendak's room, but she would have to leave something for him to do because she needed to take a bath/shower that evening.

"I have to take a bath/shower this evening, but I can introduce you to one of my favorite board games if you like." (Y/n) offered when she put the mostly empty dishes on the serving cart, wondering if he would be interested in playing a game with her.

"Bored game?" Sendak questioned, confused by the term since he'd never heard it before; he knew what being bored was, but he didn't understand how being bored could be turned into a game.

"Not bored, board." (Y/n) kindly corrected him, once again sitting down so she could explain what board games were to the confused male galra.

Sendak lowered his ears a little, feeling more confused than before and a little embarrassed; he might not have known much about humans but they seemed complicated when it came to certain aspects. He wasn't entirely sure what to think of board games when (Y/n) began explaining them to him, although he kind of liked the one called battleship and he couldn't figure out why, it just sounded really fascinating to him. After (Y/n) finished briefly explaining what board games were she stood up and pushed the cart out of the room; she'd had fun talking to Sendak and having a somewhat deep conversation with him during dinner, so she hoped that every evening they would be able to get to know each other better. It was honestly nice to finally have company instead of living alone, she just hoped that Sendak would have a fast recovery. While (Y/n) was busy putting the dishes in the dishwasher Sendak was left to his thoughts, the large male still feeling a little confused about board games, although he thought most of them were boring and pointless, only kind of liking the one called battleship.
