Ten year old Roman winced as he was knocked to the ground, his uncle wasn't going easy on him. There was a soft giggle as his eight year old sister made her way into the training area. "Uncle! Brother!" She called. "Father had just brought a new master of coin and he brought his daughter."

Roman glanced over and took a sharp breath in as he finally got a good look at the tangle of red curls and the bright blue eyes of the girl. "Siren." She said. "Your highnesses."

"I'm Roman." Roman said quickly taking her hand and kissing it. "Nyra mother was looking for you."

His sisters face lit up. "We shall go immediately." She quickly caught her friends arm and dragged her back into the castle.

"If you don't marry your sister, a highborn lady such as her wouldn't be a bad match." Daemon said softly. "Your father and hers would do well to converse."

"I'll ask him." Roman said distractedly. "But father wishes Rhaenyra to be queen. If I'm to be king I don't think I have a choice."

Daemon shrugged. "It never hurts to speak with him."

Roman nodded and frowned. "She is the eldest daughter of the warden of the south, it would provide good support for our problems with dorne."

Daemon nodded. "You are allowed to find happiness, and it would be smart politically." He answered. He glanced up. "We need to get to the small council. Come, you need to be aware of what's happening in your kingdom."

Roman nodded. "I know. And father wants me to be prepared to take my place on the small council when I reach adulthood." He sighed. "It's just all so boring, I'd rather be on dragon back."

Daemon chuckled. "You are a dragon rider, being on dragon back will always be better than anything else." He told him as they walked to the small council chamber. "However you are also a future king, you've got duties to the realm."

Roman scowled. "You have duties to the realm that you never follow." He shot back. "You're the leader of the city watch and you hardly ever show up to the small council."

Daemon suppressed a smile. "I'm a second son. I don't need to follow every rule set before me, you've gotten either the misfortune or the good fortune of being the kings only son. His heir. You've got to follow the rules which includes marrying and having children, and making sure you understand the laws of your country."

Roman sighed. "Yeah alright." He muttered. "I hope I don't have to marry Rhaenyra, I know it's the custom of our house but she's my sister."

Daemon smiled. "I'm sure if you ask your father he will let you have a choice in the matter."

Roman's face brightened. "I really hope so. I want to be happy, at least as happy as mom and dad are." He answered. He went silent as he entered the chamber and went to get the wine while his uncle took his seat. He quietly poured the wine for everyone as he listened to the talk around them.

"Welcome lord Tyrell." His father said with a smile towards the pretty girl from the courtyards father. "I heard you brought your daughter with you."

Lord Tyrell nodded. "She's just princess Rhaenyras age and they seem to be getting along quite well."

His father smiled. "Good I'm glad, Rhaenyra is lacking in friends. Just my lord hands daughter at the moment. I'm sure they'll be glad to be getting another playmate."

Lord Tyrell nodded. "Indeed and she's glad to have girls her own age around her."

His father nodded. "And I'm sure this is a good chance to find a match for her."
