Ryley simply sat there, contemplating his situation on the cooled magma that the cave is made of, the distant calls of sea dragons being oddly soothing, despite the fact he should probably be swimming away. If not for one tiny detail. He didn't know how to swim. A solid hour had been dedicated to trying to move, but he couldn't figure out how anything works. So, he opted to think instead. Despite the very... unique situation he was in, there were some things he could figure out easily enough. For one, he was still mostly humanoid, despite being as big as the Sea Emperor babies who were slightly bigger than his sea moth on their own. He's fairly certain he was some hybrid of a Sea Emperor, if the light brown scales and blue bioluminescent... things on his tentacles were anything to go by. And his hair was oddly grass like, swaying in the water. Yeah, that's about all he had so far. A growling sound from his torso interrupts his thoughts. Aaaaaaaand he's hungry. Great. He tries to recall the data entry on Sea Emperors from when he was human. He thinks they were omnivorous, so not too different to what he was before. If only he could move without sinking.
After several hours of struggle, he finally managed to half swim. Swimming with nothing but your arms is very slow and very tiring, but its all he has right now. He soon leaves the lava lizards and lava larva behind, the softer blues and yellows of the lost river coming into view as he struggles to go up. But then he hears the tell-tale sign of a Ghost Leviathan charging. Whipping his head around, he eventually sees a juvenile swallow a stray lava lizard. Making sure to keep his eyes trained on it, he lets himself sink back down. Not dealing with that today. Nuh uh. Not today, Satan. Thankfully he sinks into the path of a lava larva on his way down, and after some hesitation, he kills it and takes a quick bite. Surprisingly delicious.
So, Ryley just stays there, resting on the magma, occasionally eating lava larva that came too close. There was a scare with a lava lizard, but his claws are apparently very sharp, and lava lizards don't taste too bad either. He was thinking on ways to make the most of his still-maybe not-a-dream scenario. Then came the unthinkable. The god damn impossible. His peripheral is obscured with neon colours like a Mesmer was in front of him, a familiar, comforting silhouette at the centre of his vision. "What... are... you?"
