Today was finally the day. His day. Today was finally Königs birthday! He was so excited! He knew all of his new teammates were probably unaware of this fact but thats okay, all König cared about today was spending time with his caregivers, Soap and Ghost had something special planned for him. How did he know this? Well, even after being put into bed and tucked in, König listened in on their conversation and he heard them talking about a "mission" they had to go on. And he knew it wasnt a REAL mission because he would have been notified about it! He went to bed with a wide smile last night.

As of now, König walked around the base with a pep in his step and a smile on his face (of course his mask was hiding it bit it was still present). He walked to the mess hall then spotted his caregivers! He immediately walked over to them but at a normal pace as to not alert his fellow soldiers or have them wonder what the hell was wrong with him.

"Greetings Ghost! Soap" greeted the Austrian as he stepped up to the two, who smiled and nodded back to him.

"Well someones certainly happy today! Whats got you in such a good mood Anton?" Soap asked as he ate his breakfast, Ghost remaining quiet as he sat next to Soap on the bench.

König was taken back by Soaps question though, it hit him like a bus in a way. He was sure they didnt forget, surely they didnt... did they?

"Oh sunshine don't listen to him, he's just being silly, He knows its your birthday today sweetheart" Ghost pipes up as he holds Königs hand under the table and rubs his thumb over Königs knuckles.

This was a relief for König considering he was already nervous about people forgetting his special day. But now thanks to Ghosts words, he started to feel a bit fuzzy in his head. He laughs a bit nervously to try and brush it off, but Ghost caught onto that though then smirked under his mask, nudging Soap to get his attention a d ensure that he also saw what he was seeing. Once the scottsman grinned and nodded in understanding, he looked down at his food with a coy look on his face as he spoke

"So, what were you thinking about doing for your special day, hm? You wanna... go get some ice cream? wanna go get a toy as your present?" he smiled over at König, who looked a little stunned by the suggestions, he averted his eyes and scratched the back of his neck

"Uh... Haha funny one Sergant, But I dont think we'll be doing anything like that today" the Austrian replied sheepishly before shaking his head "I don't think being little on my birthday would be really fair..."

Both Ghost and Soap were a little shocked by the Austrians comment, they looked at eachother then looked back at König before Soap started to speak out again

"Why do ye say that, lad? Not fair for whom, cus y'know me and Ghostie here love spendin' time wit' ya, little guy!" he days in a cheerful tone, Ghost silently agreeing beside him with a reassuring look in his eyes

König only shrugs once more then sughs "I think.... I just-... I-I dunno.... I guess I feel like its just a little stupid since I regress so often and... I dont like being a bother for you guys since you have to coddle me 24/7..."

His comment draws another round of silence between Ghost and Soap, both stunned by Königs problem and the fact that he was just starting to talk about it now. Ghost and Soap had been taking care of König for almost 2 years now, yet they were just hearing about Königs insecurities when it came to regressing... They felt awful that they didnt notice it  Ghost especially since he was supposedly Königs "Mama". It was only natural for Ghost to speak first this time

"Anton... Sunshine.... Why didnt you say anything to us about this before? You know that youre never a bother to us, little or big! youre our friend! we care about you and your mental health more than anything in this world... Dont shut us out sweetheart, we only want whats best for you... thats why we offered to be your caregivers in the first place. Sunshine, trust is a two way street. Me and Johnny trust you so... why do you think you can't trust us? Did we do something to upset you-"

"Nein!... I-I mean no!... I just...." König sighs then rubs his face with his hands under his mask then speaks meekly "Ive never... had this before... people always assume that im a big, scary, killing machine... so being coddled and loved like this... i-its all new to me... I apologize for not talking to you both sooner about my problems... its just.... I didnt want you two to think I was being ungrateful... I felt bad thinking about how dumb the whole issue was, about me regressing too much... I felt like I shouldve been happy to bask in the privilege of being able to regress at all! I-.... I am sorry.... You two are very dear to me and I respect both of you greatly, I value your opinions... I was just afraid youd be upset with me..."

Soap glances over at Ghost then sighs himself and stands up from the table. this made König panic a little, thinking he had just upset his papa, but instead of leaving like König thought, the scot sat next to König and hugged him tight

"Youve got too big of a heart, Anton..." He says quietly before taking the Austrians chin between his index and his thumb and making the tall man face him, to look at his soft smile "Ye can never be a bother to me and Simon, ye hear me? When we found ye cryin' in yer room over a bruised knee two years ago, we knew that we had t'be there for ya no matter what. We made a promise to ye and eachother that we'd do our best to ya. Yer not bein' ungrateful at all Anton, ya gotta learn that we're not gonna bite yer head off for the littlest things... alright? can ye promise me that you'll learn to trust us?"

In that moment, König felt his heart swell with gratitude for both Ghost and Soap.... Simon and Johnny... It felt nice to have real friends that cared about him this much. He nodded woth a bright smile under his mask then suddenly felt his fuzzy brain taking over, which Ghost and Soap noticed immediately, making them both chuckle simultaneously

"Atta lad... now... lets celebrate yer birthday properly!"

And with that, the whole day was spent with the three men. They went out to Königs favorite place which was the aquarium! The Austrian just knew that his caregivers had something big planned! He felt his gratitude grow more and more with each passing hour they spent together! After the aquarium, they went to the gift shop and König git some amazing new plushies, including a little octopus he called "Squidge", then right after they went out to an ice cream shop where the regressed soldier was able to get his favorite flavor, which was a blue sorbet that came with little shark gummies, then finally after the ice cream shop they went right home and watched Octonauts all night long until the Austrian fell asleep in his new sharkie onesie that was a gift from Alejandro and Rudy (Or Auntie Ale and Uncle Ruds as König called them). König loved his caregivers and all of his friends as well... it was truly the best birthday ever.
