RECAP

She nodded softly, giving in to the fact that she needed someone to help her; she didn't want to die of starvation; that's what the others back at the mansion were probably praying on, and she wasn't going to give them the Satisfaction. "I guess I am, but there's nothing we can really do about it."

"Well, I have an idea." He spoke; he stood by the window, his gaze fixed on the woods outside. The rain had subsided into a gentle tapping against the glass, and the wind had calmed to a light breeze. Nina watched him closely, her eyes narrowing as she sensed an idea forming in his mind. She felt a pang of fear - what if he suggested something unspeakable, like cannibalism? - but she shut him down before he could speak. "No, whatever you're thinking, no," she said firmly, backing away with her hands raised in refusal. Jack glared, but behind the perplexed expression, she could almost see the hurt in Jack's eyes. He quickly shook his head, understanding her concern with a frown, clearing things up. "No, no! There's a shop nearby," he said, gesturing vaguely into the woods from the window. Nina's frustration boiled over. She felt something inside of her snap at the words. "Repeat that." She glared, one brow lowered. Jack tilted his head, seemingly confused at her request "There's..a shop?" he answered, his voice perplexed by her stage question.
She stood for a few seconds, her head keeping still on the ground before she grunted, glaring at Jack's face. "There's been a shop this whole time!?" she exclaimed, clenching her fists. She couldn't believe he hadn't mentioned it sooner and had kept this to himself.

She felt betrayed, it's been so long since she had eaten yet there was a solution to her hunger not too far, yet she couldn't help but feel the tingle of excitement at the thought of eating. Jack's 'eyes' widened as she grew angry, his lips turning downward as he held his hands up defensively; he sighed softly, Observing her firm physique. "I didn't know you were hungry!" He exclaimed, his hands still up in defence as he stepped back more. She huffed, slowly shaking her head, "You found me on the floor because I almost starved to death, Of course, I'm hungry!" Nina scoffed, her eyes showing true fury as Jack muttered incoherent words under his breath.

The two stood still, the sounds of their breaths could be heard.

Jack didn't want to risk saying anything, but the silence was beginning to irritate him and he had to speak up. After all, he did feel a bit guilty. Nina's attention was caught as Jack awkwardly cleared his through followed by a soft sigh.

"The store isn't far. Would you like me to get you something?" he asked, though knowing the answer, he made his way to a table near the door and picked up a bag that was sagging from a worn-down wooden chair and rummaged through it, pulled out a wallet.

With the wallet grasped in his hand, he turned to face Nina, waiting for her confirmation. She swallowed heavily, eyes focused on everything but Jack, as she didn't like getting help from others, but she agreed and softly sighed. She felt weak.

"How far is it?" Shaking her head to quickly changed her question to something else that had been nagging her, "There are other people here?!" As she waited for his response, she turned her gaze to the window and wondered what more was out there. "Oh, yeah. There are many more people near the store; I prefer to stay far away from them." he commented, awkwardly rubbing the back of his head as he admitted the last part, the corners of his lips turned upwards in an uncomfortable smile.
"So, are you coming?" He asked, now turning away from her, resting his hand on the doorknob to await her response. "I guess I'll stay." She awkwardly murmured, she really wasn't in the mood to walk for who knows how long with the hunger she had, she'd rather just explore the cabin that she seemed to be stuck in for now. She hoped that he'd hurry back before hunger got the best of her. He stood quiet for a few long seconds, his gaze hardened but eventually, he let out a hard sigh as he turned back to face her, "Suit yourself. But don't leave," he cringed at his words, "Please?" he added, turning back to the door, his head held low. Nina couldn't help but hold back a laugh, she found his desperation funny. But keeping her face straight she nodded. "Obviously. But you better hurry," she muttered, knowing that her life depended on him, she didn't want to lose the opportunity to eat.

He twisted the doorknob, the door creaked as he stepped outside, a soft splash could be heard as his foot stepped into a small puddle on the forest floor

He twisted the doorknob, the door creaked as he stepped outside, a soft splash could be heard as his foot stepped into a small puddle on the forest floor. She held her hand up with a small wave but flinched as the door slammed shut, it was quite heavy for a chipped-away wooden door. She had the place to herself and she was ready to explore more of this rundown place in peace.

Finally catching her breath, she let out a sigh knowing she was alone. She felt so on edge talking to what seemed to be a monster.
She turned around and focused on the area she woke up at and cringed, remembering the slimy noises she could hear in the room behind and her curiosity got the best, she had to check it out. She entered the thin hallway with a plastered wallpaper that began to peel and lose its colouring, stepping into a dark room to her right. It smelt horrible, rotten even.
Peering around she tried to find a light switch, her hand firmly pressed, moving around in the wall. Her hand met with what seemed to be a button that was cold to the touch, she pressed her finger to it and flinched as the light turned on, her eyes getting used to the light.
"What the fuck!" she hissed, her throat burned, and her eyes teared up as she stared at the sight.

Deceased bodies sprawled around in what seemed to be a kitchen, their limbs torn off and their skin flayed. Kidneys sat in jars supplied with some sort of fluid. "There's more bodies?!" she joked, hiding the fact she was scared shitless. Stepping into the room, a sticky noise every time her foot made contact with the floor.

Her eyes caught what seemed to be a mirror, and a gush of disappointment and sadness surged through her. Her reflection, she looked just like him. Her hands clenched into fists.

That's when it hit her. She didn't need to look like him. All she had to do was find was she needed. Stepping forward, she crouched down to look inside the cabinet below the mirror. Leaving a mess on the floor, her eyes lit up, exactly what she was looking for!

She winced in pain, as she stared into her own face. She felt. . . Great? She couldn't put a word to how she felt. A sewing needle in her left and thread in her right hand. Her slit smile now stitched close.
"Should probably look for some painkillers.." She muttered under her breath. "I'm sure Jack has them somewhere."
