"Hel-"
"I need to get out of the house. Are you free?" Molly spoke so fast it took me a second to catch up.
"Yeah, of course, head over whenever you want. I'm home alone tonight, Mum's on a night shift and Edward's at a sleepover." I answered, pouring the cold cup of tea my Mum had left on the side of the couch down the kitchen sink. Movement resonated down the line before I even stopped talking.
"Perfect, I'm on my way." I could heard her getting into the car and putting her seatbelt on. "Do you feel like going out tonight?"
"I could be convinced, I literally just woke up though so it might take me a while to come round." Making sure the living room and kitchen were tidy, I moved to unlock the front door as Molly started the car and said she'd see me soon.
Heading upstairs, I opened the bathroom door to find my brother's clothes strewn across the floor. A groan escaped me, before I decided I couldn't be bothered and just kicked it all into the corner by the bath.
Brushing my teeth quickly, I shut the bathroom door behind me and wandered down the hall into my room. Just as I pulled the duvet flat over my bed, I heard the door open downstairs.
"Hello?" Molly shouted, the front door clicking shut at the same time.
"My room!" I called back as her footsteps began to sound on the stairs. Grabbing my straighteners from my desk, I plugged them in and left them to warm on the heating pad.
"I need you to match my outfit because I've severly overdressed." Her tote bag dumped on the carpet by my bed, pajamas poking over the side, Molly threw herself dramatically atop the covers.
Dressed far too nicely for a quiet night at the pub, my best friend was decked in a short black dress with pieces cut out from the front.
"Where are we going?" I moved towards my wardrobe in the corner of the room, opening the door and looking back at Molly in question.
"Why don't we go to Echo? Gregor's brother said he'd give us free shots and we haven't been yet."
"We can go to Echo, I have no clue what to wear though, especially when you look like that." I gestured towards my wardrobe, colourful jumpers and leggings practically spilling out the open door.
"Oh I'll pick! I'll find something to wear, you start doing your hair and makeup while I choose." Molly sat up on the bed, kicking her heels off.
After Molly turned me into her own pet project, we stepped out of my front door ready for a night on the town. Well, Molly definitely was. I however, felt incredibly exposed and nervous, dressed in one of Molly's emergency dresses - a short, pastel pink dress with flowers embroidered on the upper half. Somehow I managed to convince Molly to let me wear a thin knitted cardigan on top, which didn't exactly provide me with the comfort I'd hoped.
Slipping into the backseat of the cab she'd ordered, I turned to Molly with what I'm sure was a nervous expression.
"Are you sure this is a good idea? What if it's so busy we can't get in?"
"Hush, my sweet summer child. Watch as our womanly wiles get us straight past the line and into Echo within seconds, you doubt us too much." We giggled quietly as the driver gave us a funny look in the rear view mirror. It doesn't take us long to reach Echo, and an even lesser amount of time for Molly to pay and get us sidled up in front of the bouncer at the door.
"Hi Jessie." My best friend batted her false eyelashes, and that's all it took for him to give us a short nod, and lift the rope for us.
"How...?" A devious grin slipped across Molly's face as she pulled me through the bustling crowd with a firm grip on my wrist.
"Guess you never met Gregor's older, older brother." Molly winked at me before she called over the bar. Two shots of Sourz and two rum and coke's, Benny!" Glancing over, I saw a man who could be Gregor's double. That must be the older brother I remember from football practice.
Glasses were placed in front of us, and with a bump on the hip from Molly, we linked elbows and downed our shots, before picking up our drinks and turning to face the room, backs pressed against the sticky bar. Among the low lighting and grinding bodies, I caught a glimpse of a head of hair above the crowd that caught my eye. Molly giggled and turned to me, pulling my focus back to her.
"Fancy getting in some trouble tonight?" She nodded over my shoulder, and upon turning I found she had spied two guys that must be about our age. They were decidedly not ugly. I sent her a cheeky look as I downed the rest of my drink, and watched on as she made the same order again - two shots and two drinks.
Maybe some trouble wouldn't be all that bad.
