Yuuto leans towards a reserved, pragmatic demeanor. Due to his behavior, he's often seen as a workaholic—an unapproachable, silent, yet diligent student who approaches both people and tasks with a straightforward, no-nonsense attitude. Ever since his youth, he was never one to sugarcoat his words or beat around the bush. Of course, he didn't act like this out of malice, but it often steered things in the wrong direction.
While Yuuto prefers to deal with confrontations through persuasion, he is not above resorting to violence if provoked enough. This is especially evident in the incident that led to his "exile."
After Yuuto was placed in Class E, he came to realize that his worth wasn't solely tied to his academic performance. While he still excels, his priorities shifted from competition and dogmatism to personal growth and effective communication.

It wasn't that Yuuto never got along with Hayami, per se. They'd occasionally greet each other and make small talk for politeness' sake, but that was it. However, their bond took a solid leap forward when Korosensei tagged them as partners for a class research project. Despite both of them usually putting up a calm and composed front, they clicked pretty well.
When Yuuto had the opportunity to see Hayami's softer side, something very different from her usual 'cool beauty' persona that's associated with her, his heart nearly skipped a beat. One memory he'll forever remember is when she picked up a cat with all the tenderness in the world - it was like watching her melt into a puddle of kindness.
Nevertheless, he consciously suppressed any budding emotions, as he believed Hayami had a thing for Chiba.

The blonde whirlwind excitedly brought him to the arcade, threw him into spontaneous shopping sprees, and somehow managed to talk him into giving ice skating a shot.
Surprisingly, they had pretty similar interests and they were good friends in no time. Nakamura was also pretty persistent, always roping him into some cool adventure or the other, and the way she looked out for him didn't go unnoticed either. Simply put, Yuuto would be lying if he said he never thought about Rio romantically.
