"ZOE! PLEASE! WAKE UP! Please!˝ Max cried. Its been a 10 months since Zoe hasent woke up from her coma since the car accident that happened on April 6th. Max has been by her side since. Max and Zoe are best friends but Max secretly loves her and wants to be more than friends. Max has liked Zoe since graduating college together. Max loves seeing Zoe smile, laugh, blush, and being shy. Zoe and Max have been bestfriend since fourth grade. Zoe slowly opened her eyes. "Max?" Zoe said."Zoe, are you awake ?" "How long Have i been asleep?" "9 months." "9 months, really?" "Yes." Max said looking at the ground. "Wow." Zoe said crying a little.

Meanwhile while they were at the hospital, the nurses rushed in with doctor Robertson. He told Zoe he had bad news. He said " well while you were in a coma, we did some test and they came back postive... im sorry to tell you but...(Zoe was squeazing(Max's hands) you have..... cancer". Zoe froze then bursted out with tears. Tears filled Max's eyes. Everything went quiet for a few seconds, which felt like hours. There the nurses and doctor were looking at one another. Doctor Robertson broke the silence saying, "you...you have a year to live unless we can find a cure for the unknown cancer you have". "When can Zoe come home?" Max said wiping his tears streaming down his face. Doctor Robertson said,"Tomorrow."

"Welcome home, Zoe!" Everyone Zoe know said as she came in. "Zoe, You look great." Pa(Her grandpa) said rolling in from the kitchen. "Thanks." Zoe said smiling. "Now, who wants cake!" Miss. Bass(Zoe's mom)said. " I do, where's Maria and Carlos?" Zoe asked looking around. (Maria is Zoe's 8year Old sister who turned 8, 10 days after Zoe was in a coma and Carlos is Zoe's 10 old brother who almost died with his twin brother but he survived and Junior(his twin) didn't and he turned 10 on December 10(Zoe was in a coma as Well)
"I think their in there room." Ma(Her grandma) said. Zoe walked up stairs and went in her little sisters room. "Hey Maria, Happy late birth day." Zoe said walk in. Zoe saw the window open. She walked over to the window and saw sheets tied together (making a rope) down the window,she also saw a envelope and outside she saw Maria waving at her then running away. "MARIA,MARIA! Zoe yelled running down stair to the front door. "WHAT HAPPENED?!" Miss. Bass yelled when Zoe run out. " M-MARIA,COMEBACK!" Zoe yelled as she ran after. Maria didn't listen. She ran in the woods. As Zoe was yelling and running after Maria she noticed Maria was caring a book bag that looked like it was full of stuff. Maria looked like she was going hiking or camping. "MARIA, COMEBACK!" Zoe yelled. " NO!" Maria yelled back. "MARIA!" Zoe yelled.

Maria looked back and when she turned back she tripped over a root sticking out. "M-M-Maria." Zoe said picking up Maria. "Why do u want to run away?" Zoe ask siting right beside her little sister. "Because I'm scared." Maria said crying. "Of what?" "When everyone left after my birthday party ended, mom and Carlos took grandma and grandpa home, leaving me and Joe(their stepdad) at the house alone, i went to my room and Joe had to much beer and walked up stairs to my room, i closed my door so and changed to my pjs and he walked in a-and saw me and looked at me funny, i felt like some thing bad was going to happen." "Go on." "And he walked forward and i walked back to the wall, he grabbed me and throw me on my bed and did some s-stuff the i didn't like, he told me not to t-t-tell." Maria said bursting in to tears. "Oh....... Has he done it again?"Zoe said looking at the ground. "Yes...6 days before you woke up."Maria said wiping her tears. "Come on, lets go home, you and Carlos can sleep with me as long as you like." Zoe said pick up Maria and walking home.

"There you are." Miss. Bass said hugging Maria when he walked in. "We've been worried sick." Joe said as he was about to hug Maria. " Don't you dare hug her." Zoe said pushing him. " i think its time to go." Everyone said leaving the house. The door shut everything went quiet....until all the cars drove off(Max stayed, standing beside Zoe.) "Zoe Crystal Bass, what is wrong with you?!" Miss. Bass said. "Maria, go up stairs with Max." Zoe said. "Don't forget to lock your door." Zoe whispered. Maria ran up stairs and Max followed locking the door. "Nothing's wrong with me....but something's wrong with Joe." What?" Joe said. "How dare you RAPE my little sister." "She told." Miss. Bass said . " You know MOTHER!" Zoe said. "Yes...but Joe said that was the last time." "Well it wasn't....and still you know and did not leave this cruel man." "Uhhhh....." "And you, what kind of man are you..., now she has nightmare about something you did, you sicking me." Zoe yelled. "Now who are you raising your voice at, I'm still your Step Father!" Joe yelled back pushing Zoe to the glass tablet making Zoe brake it and cut her side.

Max heard the the table break and told Maria "lock the door behind me." "Ok." Max ran down stairs and Maria ran to Carlos room locking the door behind him. She saw Carlos in the closet hiding so she went in with him. "Hey!" Max yelled pushing Joe to the wall. "Are you ok!" Max said running over to Zoe and putting her on the couch. "Y-yea i think so." Zoe said. "Sarah(Miss. Bass) hold my jacket." Joe said handing her his favorite jacket. Sarah grabbed the jacket and ran in her room. "Your bleeding." Max said. "Max watch out." Max turned and Joe punched him. Her picked up max and pushed him in to the wall.
Zoe stood up and jumped on Joe and started to hit him. Joe grapped her by her shirt and throw her on the floor. " Your worthless." Joe said putting his foot on her neck making her gasp for air. "C-c-ca-n't b-b-br-ea-th." Zoe gasped trying to take Joe's heavy foot off of her.

Max got up and punched him making Joe fall. Zoe tried to caught her breath. Max helped her up seeing a big bruise on her back. Blood was everywhere. Joe slowly got up. "You need to go i the hospital." " so do you Max,just look at your eye and back." Max had a big bruise on his back and a black eye too. " Max!" Zoe said jumping in front of Max. BANG...! Zoe hit the floor bleeding more. "Zoe!" Max cried dropping right beside her.
Suddenly the door was knocked over and officers rushed in. "Sir but down the gun." One officer said. Joe ran outside and got shoot in the arm. " we need three embrelants now. Another officer yelled. " You have the right to remain silent, anything you say or do will be against you in the court of law. Another officer said putting Joe in hand guise and putting him in the back of a police car. "Check the area." The cops said. Sarah ran outside. Max and Zoe were send to the hospital. Maria and Carlos rode with Max and Sarah rode with Zoe.

Max got up and punched him making Joe fall. Zoe tried to caught her breath. Max helped her up seeing a big bruise on her back. Blood was everywhere. Joe slowly got up. Max and Zoe were put in the same room because Max refused to go to his own room. He put his bed close to hers. "Hey, Zoe, wake up, Zoe." Max said holding her hand. Zoe didn't wake up in stead he heard beeeeeepppppp.......! Doctors & nurses rushed in. "What happened?" Max ask siting up. "Her heart stopped." Doctor Roberson said. "1..,2..,3.., CLEAR!" Max was still holding her hand. "AGAIN!" A nurse said. "1...,2...,3...,...CLEAR!" More nurses rushed in.They began checking her eyes & her heart. Beeeeeeppppppp.........! Still nothing. Zoe was coughing out blood. "Get him to his room now." "I'm not going any where." Max said. They broke their hands apart, and pushed him to his room and locked his room door and window. "Its ok, she's fine, its going to be fine." Max said to him self. "I NEED MORE NURSES!" "I NEED SOMEONE TO CLEAN THIS PUDDLE OF BLOOD ON THE FlOOR!" Doctors yelled. "Oh boy." Max said.
