Settling into the new home was getting easier as the days went on. With most of the things unboxed and some spare boxes in the extra rooms upstairs, it was easier to navigate around the house since there was more space.
Getting groceries was definitely a necessity especially since Bandit constantly wanted an omelette for breakfast. But he would always be reminded by Chilli that he can't live off of omelette's alone. When the week had passed and the weekend was about to start, Bandit had received something that he wasn't expecting.
"Haha no way!" He laughed on the phone. At this point he was pacing around the house as Chilli had started to make breakfast for them.
Since they were early risers but decided to sleep in this day, Chilli had started to make breakfast at 9. This time, she was making an omelette for the both of them. She turned around to see her husband pacing back and forth on the phone.
"Mate, there's no way! How did you get that to happen?" At this point, Chilli briefly stepped away from her omelette and started to walk towards him.
"Who is it?" she whispered to him. He didn't hear her and continued to talk on the phone.
"Oh man, that would be amazing!" As he continued to walk back and forth, his tail started to wag faster and faster. Finally he got off the phone with a "see ya soon mate!"and turned to his wife with his eyes wide opened.
"Babe, you'll never guess who's coming over to visit!" He shouted excitedly.
"Umm...Stripe and Trixie?" That's the only people she could imagine coming over to the house, but she figured that Bandit wouldn't be that excited for his own brother to come over. "Nah I'm out of ideas. Who is it?"
"Max!" There was a moment of silence as Chilli tried to process the name and put it to a face. Bandit's tail still wagged back and forth with excitement.
"Do I know him?" She asked.
"Well... uhh... I mean I've talked about him a few times...I think? Well, in case you forgot, we went to university together! We visited digs together and graduated at the same time!"
"First I'm hearing about him. I'm assuming he coming back over to the outback, he got a flight, and he really wants to see you?"
"YEAH! Isn't that great?" There was no hesitation with the blue heeler.
"Umm, yeah. That seems nice. When's he coming over?"
"Well...his plane just landed and he wanted to surprise me so he called as soon as he landed."
"Well, I'm definitely surprised." Chilli said with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"I know me too!" Clearly Bandit was way more excited about this whole thing than Chilli was. Chilli wasn't overly fond of last minute things that would get in the way of the things she had planned.
"Umm well ok. So did you guys have an idea of when you would meet and where?" She asked her husband, trying to get an idea of how to plan around the new events.
"Yeah, around 12 or so." Chilli looked over at the clock on the wall and look back at her husband. "Well it's about to be 9:45. Remember, I asked you last night to-"
"Look at one of the lights because it might not be working and to also fix the paint in the spare rooms and call about the water". He finished her sentence for her.
"Right. You can finish those in time right? What did you even have planned to do together?"
He nervously looked down at the ground then back to his wife.
"Umm... well, we..."
Chilli put her paws on her hips with an eyebrow raised
"Spill, Heeler"
