Crystal Tokyo a world that was full of vibrant colors and lights. The laughter of the children and the ease of their parents talking amongst each other not having to worry about their next meal. The food that everyone made and the vendors would sell would make all the villagers come and gather to eat once in a while as a celebration. The beautiful silver and vibrant colors of the city would help anybody who found themselves lost at night.
Their ruler Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion were the beloved couple who ruled Crystal Tokyo. Neo Queen Serenity was the epitome of beauty and grace, she loved her people and protected them from evil without thought to her own safety. She didn't spend recklessly and always gave when people needed her, her eyes a beautiful cerulean would gaze upon someone making the other feel more blessed than before.
Her laughter and her willingness to engage with her people had brought them all together and lived in harmony. Yet, that all began to change when evil struck their lands and the queen had died trying to protect her people from harm. When Neo Queen Serenity died it seemed Crystal Tokyo and her people died with her. The once vibrant streets filled with happy citizens all began to fade into the heavy tyrannical behavior in despair and anguish.
Usagi had been born in that troubled world. By then, Crystal Tokyo was no longer a vibrant place. The people refused to come out of their homes and the once clean and brightly shining streets were filled with grime and empty vendor stalls. Usagi was born as the daughter of a maid, she worked under the Rupert house. Unlike the commoners the nobles lived in prosperity as usual, they had no need to do any hard labor and didn't care for the grievances of their own people.
The family of the Ruperts' were the same. They had been arrogant and looked down upon the 'smelly and low birth commoners'. Her mother had been under constant abuse and had fallen ill because of it. It was now up to Usagi to take up that role as the maid under the mansion. She stared at herself in the mirror as she quickly put her long blonde hair into a high ponytail. People, she had often heard them say that her hair was the only source of color in their dull world.
"You are just like the late queen," the headmistress said as she sighed, "god bless the late queen's soul, may she find peace in this troubled world." Usagi only gave a small smile to the compliment. She knew not to casually talk about the queen, especially in a noble household that was so loyal to the king. She just shrugged as she made her way to her spot at the mansion. She sighed as she tied the apron a bit tightly once more before cleaning the grandiose staircase.
"Usagi!" another maid by the name of Hana said as she greeted her. "You should be careful around the mistress, she's in an awfully bad mood." Usagi nodded her head as she took a deep breath before making her way to the top of the staircase. She could hear the lady of the house before she could see her. The noble couple were screaming at each other about things Usagi couldn't understand.
"We cannot do this!" Lady Arisu said as she screamed at her husband, "The king is mad! He's lost all sense of the world! Do you hear me?!" At this, Usagi began to listen as she glanced at the slightly opened doorway.
"Keep your voice down!" Lord Rupert said as he leaned against his desk. "The king could hear you! Or the senshis!" Lady Arisu gave a scoff as she folded her arms across her chest. Usagi stayed quiet glancing around once in a while in order to not get caught. Lord Rupert was quiet as he thought about something his wife had said. It was true about what Lady Arisu had said, the king had gone made after the death of his beloved queen.
Usagi felt a bit confused, she had learned of the king's love for the queen. The way he would tenderly look at her as he gave a small smile before leading her. Usagi could never imagine a kinder more gentle version of the king she was seeing now. King Endymion was a tyrant through and through, he was domineering and killed any nobles who crossed him or said any hate toward his late queen.
Before she could listen further she heard the sound of the first son's room being opened. With her heart pounding Usagi jumped before hurrying to the staircase, in her panicked state she tripped over herself. "Hahaha!" Lord Daiki said as he approached her, "Look at you, you are so clumsy you fell on air! What a freak." Usagi got up slowly as she curtsied to the boy before scampering down the staircase.
Daiki watched her go amusement in his eyes. Out of all the maids in his mansion, Usagi was the most amusing. She was a kind-hearted soul who would do anything to help her fellow maids and be clumsy at certain times. She wasn't like all his other maids who would cower at the sight of him but instead would face him straight up and glare at him if he so much as insulted her fellow maids.
Usagi took a deep breath as she finally made it back to the dining hall. Hana glanced at her in amusement as she raised an eyebrow, "Let me guess," Hana said as she wiped down the table. "You met Lord Daiki and he teased you again for your clumsiness." Usagi just rolled her eyes as she helped set the table.
"Tell me about it," Usagi said as she sighed, "he's such an annoying person, he's arrogant and thinks everyone's a game to him." Hana just chuckled as she shook her head. She glanced at Usagi as she watched the girl wipe down the silverware and place it on the table. The light that was filtering in through the window her her perfectly as she moved around. Her face which many had called beautiful was silently smiling as she felt proud of the work she had done.
"You know Usagi-chan," Hana said as she gave a small chuckle, "you have that vibe you know, the vibe the late queen used to have. One that could make anyone fall in love with you easily." Usagi only chuckled as she shook her head. "What! I'm telling the truth!"
"Uh huh sure," Usagi said as she shook her head, "there's no way I can be comparable to the late queen. She must have been ten times better." Hana just shrugged as they let the conversation go. They soon finished as they stepped back toward the walls they watched the noble families eat their dinner. Usagi glanced at the floor as she pretended she didn't want the food the nobles were eating.
As a maid, Usagi knew that she was lucky enough to even have food on her table. When she was back home with her mother away she had no way to know how to feed her little brother and herself. Now, Usagi had a perfect opportunity to do so. She smiled slightly at the thought of her silly little brother, Shingo Tsukushino was one people called a fool and a lazy bum. He had refused to work saying he'd rather starve than serve the 'disgusting pigs of a noble.'
The responsibility Usagi felt weighed on her shoulders as she treaded carefully in the mansion afraid to get fired. "How dare you!" Lord Daiki's voice said as Usagi jumped in surprise. "You insolent fool! How could you spill the drink on me!" Usagi gritted her teeth as she watched the commotion, the tray in her hands was clenched tightly as she watched him yell at the poor trembling maid.
Before Lord Daiki could raise a hand to hit her, Usagi stepped up and she grabbed his arm stopping him. Daiki glared at the girl opening his mouth to criticize the girl but stopped. Usagi looked at him her blue cerulean eyes cold and staring at Daiki down. Lady Arisu and Lord Rupert stopped eating to watch as the room seemed to freeze. Lady Arisu who had been a bit closer to the late queen felt herself gasp.
She could recognize the aura and the gaze in her eyes. It was the same look the late queen had when she stared at any injustice that wanted to harm her people. Her warm cerulean blue eyes would grow cold as she stared down at her enemies her staff in her hand. "Serenity?" Lady Arisu whispered as she gripped her spoon. Before she could say something to stop the fight she felt shocked when Usagi raised her hand as if she was holding something.
A flash of a figure appeared on Usagi as she stood facing her back to Arisu. The spoon she had held in her hand clattered to the floor as she recognized the figure standing and its movements followed along the girls. The beautiful white dress and the ribbon on the back fluttering with the rush of white power and her long golden hair in twin pigtails fluttering in the breeze, there was no mistaking it. This was the appearance of the late queen.
Usagi jumped in surprise as she immediately stumbled backwards. Even if she herself didn't see it she could feel the ghost of a hand grabbing her wrist and guiding warmth into it. The flash of brilliant white light and nothing. She stared at her hand in shock as she felt herself go numb, she had heard stories of the legendary silver crystal the late queen had wielded. The beautiful warm bright white light washed over the people and gave them warmth and a long prosperous life.
"U-Usagi-chan?" Hana said as the other maids glanced at each other unsure of what to do. "What did you just do?"
