Coming home from school, I went to my room and put down my school bag. Heading back downstairs, I yelled out for my mom, but no answer came up, thinking to myself that she must have gone out. Opening the refrigerator, I took the left-over Chinese food that we ordered and put it in the microwave to heat up. Then I got my phone out of my hoodie pocket and dialed my mom; it rang and rang, but all I got was her voicemail.

That's weird. Mom has never answered my call. Even if she was busy, I said, thinking to myself about deciding to call. Again, it rang, but no answer. Thinking nothing about it, I heard the microwave beep showing that my food is finished warming up

I went to grab it when suddenly I heard my phone ringing. I picked it up, expecting it to be from my mom. It wasn't from an unknown number being suspicious. I answered the call. "Hello," I answered questionably. "Hello, I'm looking for Vera Williams," the unfamiliar voice said over the phone.

Umm, what would you like to know about her? "I'm sorry this might be a little weird, but I'm one of your mom's friends, and she told me to call you if anything happened to her."

What do you mean? If something happened, did something happen to her? I asked worriedly, "I'm sorry, but your mom has been missing since this morning." Wait, what do you mean my mom is missing!? I saw her this morning before I went to school.

I'm sorry, but your mom was supposed to be at work this morning, and we called and heard nothing from her. We called her home, and they said she's not there. What do you mean you called and the person said she's not here? That's weird because it's only my mom and I living in this house. What the actual fuck is going on? Please tell me this is some silly joke.

"I'm sorry to inform you of such bad news, but we called the police, and they are doing their best to find her, so don't worry or stress too much. I'm sure they'll find her." Holding back the tears that's ready to fall down my face, I hung up the phone and began searching around the house for any signs of my mother. about some minutes I found none. I found no signs of forced entry or anything weird. telling myself to keep calm and not stress.

I called my mom again, but this time, an unfamiliar voice answered the phone. Hel-hello, my voice shook. Hello, mom, are you there? But all I heard was shuffling in the background. There was no sound from my mother, just some shuffling and a heavy breathing look. I'll give you whatever you want. Just don't hurt my mother, okay? Just don't hurt her. She's the only family I have. Suddenly, the phone hung up. No wait, I said, full on sobbing quickly. I dialed back my mom, but what I'd heard was, "The person you are trying to call is unavailable. Please try again later."

Getting my phone I rushed outside to go next door to my best friend's house to tell her about what's happening, but as I was about to knock on the door, the door opened, revealing my best friend's mother. Hi, Ms. Rooney, is Avery home? Yes, she's upstairs doing her project with her partner. Okay, thank you. I replied to her while running upstairs, opening Avery's room door. I saw her on top of a boy making out, C'mon, Avery, are you sure he has no type of disease? Avery and whatever his name is got up quickly, shocked by my presence. I'm sorry to interrupt, but I have to talk to my best friend.

Avery outside, please. I'm sorry to disrupt you, but there's something really weird going on with my mom; she's missing. I whispered to her, hoping he didn't hear "what! That's not something to joke about, V. I understand your mom is sometimes a bitch, but that's low even for me," she said, getting an angry look. "I'm dead fucking serious. I got home and was calling out for her, and I heard nothing. She didn't answer, and I thought nothing of it at first, but then an unknown number called me and said that they were my mom's friend, and they told me she was missing from morning. My mom didn't show up for work this morning, and when they called home, someone said she's not there, which is weird because it's only my mom and I live in that house unless a ghost answers the phone and says so which is whack," I said it out of breath.

Avery is staring at me with shock written all over her face, trying to understand the situation here. "Did you call the police?" No, but the person who called me did, and they said the police are doing everything they can." I replied to her question.

--------

It's been four days, and I have heard nothing. the police say that she ran away, but I know my mom wouldn't just run away; she had a good life. I know it was hard when I started high school and her job fired her, but I know she wouldn't do something like this.
The police are now saying it's a kidnapping because they found blood near the intersection where she goes to work. I don't know if it's accurate or not, but I'll find any person responsible for my mom's disappearance, and I swear by it.
