Charlie, Charlie has many other names. Some of the other names are "The Pencil Game" "Six Pencils" "Charlie, Charlie are you there?" and "The Charlie Charlie Challenge". Recently, this "game" has become popular among teens. Some people believe that in this "game" you are contacting the spirit of a young boy named Charlie that killed himself. Others believe that you are contacting a demon or even the Devil himself.

Charlie, Charlie

Items you will need:

2 Pencils

A blank piece of paper

A writing utensil

Instructions:

Step 1: Draw 2 lines dividing the paper into 4 sections. Write "YES" in the top left corner and the bottom right corner. Write "NO" on the top right corner and bottom left corner.

Step 2: Place one pencil on the line going left to right. Balance your other pencil on top of it going top to bottom.

Step 3: Say "Charlie, Charlie, can we play?" 2 times out loud.

Charlie will make the top pencil move to either yes or no. You can continue to ask him yes or no questions.

Step 4: To end the game you must ask, "Charlie, Charlie, can we stop?" until the pencil goes to yes. If it moves to no, you must keep trying until you get a yes. Once you get a yes, say "Goodbye" and move the pencils of the paper.

From experience, this version does not really work, but the version below does.

Six Pencils

Items you will need:

6 unsharpened pencils

2 people

Instructions:

Step 1: Each person gets 3 pencils. Line your pencils to make 3/4 of a square. The opened end should have the erasers pointing towards the person in front of you.

Step 2: Both players should connect their unfinished squares. The erasers should be touching.

Step 3: To begin, say, "Charlie, Charlie, can we play?" 1 to 2 times depending on if the pencils move.

If the pencils move inward, it means yes.

If the pencils move outward, it means no.

If the pencils move up, it means yes.

If the pencils move down, it means no.

If one pencil moves in and the other moves out, it means maybe.

You can ask Charlie yes or no questions.

Step 4: To end the game, you say, "Charlie, Charlie, can we stop?" When the pencils indicate yes, you drop them and say "Goodbye".
