You walk down the street away from school. It's about two o'clock and you've just gotten out so just like any other day you're walking home. As usual you're wearing the girl uniform; red plaid skirt, white blouse, red bow tie, and a sweater over it for the cold autumn weather.
"Come on Luddy!" you call back to Ludwig, your adopted brother, as you stop at the corner. Your messenger bag swings as you wave for him to hurry up. Your short hair a mess as you wait for him. A couple boys are already at the corner and stare at you with matching smirks on their faces.
"Hey babe, maybe you want to come to my place later?" one boy asks you as another stands to your side, just a little too close for comfort.
"No thanks," you tell him as you take a step back. Suddenly the boy that's next to you has his hands up your shirt. You shriek in shock as you kick your leg up his crotch, causing him to double over in pain and effectively remove his hands from you. You're suddenly pulled behind someone and you quickly realize it's Ludwig. You cling to Ludwig in fear of the boys.
"Fag! You're flat! You're not even a girl!" the second one shouts at you after recovering a bit. You're in shock as he says this. Someone's found out, someone knows... You let go of Ludwig and back up a bit, bumping into a pole and sliding to the ground. Your body trembles slightly as you feel tears pool in your eyes. Everything happens so fast after that; Ludwig beating up the two boys and quickly leading you home. All of this takes about ten minutes before you're sitting on the couch, crying to yourself. Your hands cover your face and your knees are pulled up to your chest in a fetal position.
Suddenly your picked up and moved so you're sitting in Ludwig's lap.
"This feels awkward now that you know doesn't it?" you ask worriedly. You love to sit in Ludwig's lap like this, it makes you feel safe and not alone.
"Nein, it's fine. I don't mind," Ludwig says. He wipes the lingering tears off your face and asks. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want you to think I was a freak," you answer, resting your head on his chest. You can hear his heartbeat and it's calms you down slightly.
"I would never think of you as a freak," he tells you. "Why did you even start dressing like a girl?"
"Cause sister's hand-me-downs were the only clothes we could afford," you say.
"Why did you bring me in then?" Ludwig asks silently asking for a honest answer.
"Cause you didn't have anywhere to go," you say your voice dropping and threatening to crack.
"What about the clothes you bought me?" he asks.
"Mom got money from Great Grandpa dieing. I told her to buy clothes for you," you explain.
"Why?" Ludwig asks simply.
"Cause I care about you," you say burying your head in his chest. "Ever since I first found you." A small blush heats up your face but the red in your cheeks from crying makes it barely noticeable. Ludwig's hand gently tilts your head up so you're looking in his eyes. You stare, entranced, in those blue eyes that put even the sky to shame. You move your head a little bit forward and meet him halfway as his lips press up against yours. The kiss is gentle and loving. After a bit you pull away only for Ludwig's lips to be on yours once again. He licks your bottom lip and you open up slightly, allowing his tongue to dart in. The kiss instantly gets more passionate as his tongue explores every inch of your mouth. You wrap your arms around his neck as you try to move closer to him and he uses one hand to cup your face as the other wraps around your waist. You try to wrap your own tongue around his but it proves useless as he already has dominance over you.
