Lovely ashes

Chapter One: Realization.

I look at myself in the mirror. Staring. Pondering. "How do I do this?" I think to myself.

During my dazed staring, I hear my phone buzzing. "Who's calling me?" I wonder, sense no one bothers to call me unless they need something from me. I pick up my phone and look and the caller id. "Oh, it's just Ruby," I say in a monotone voice.

"Hello?"

"HI POOKS!!"

I scrunch my face up as I back the phone away from my ear. "Hey. What do you want?" I ask, unbothered and used to her energy. "Nothinggg, just wondering if you have plans tomorrow?" She asked in a mischievous tone. "Oh. Well, I'm not doing anything. Why?" I ask. Surely she's just asking if I could help her with an outfit to wear, like she usually does. "Great!! I'll text you the plans later!" She shouts. "Wait, why later? Are you up to something?" I furrow my brows in confusion. "Don't worry about it babe, everything is A-okay!" I cringe at her excitement and I just sigh. "Okay, fine."

Ruby giggles on the other side of the phone and we say our goodbyes. I hang up and throw my phone on the bed. "Why me?" I groan.

Some time passes and it's now evening. I do my usual nighttime routine and get into bed. I scroll on my phone for a bit and I see a text notification pop up. I click on it and see that Ruby has finally sent the plans.

"Ok, don't chicken out of this because you already agreed on going... I know what ur thinking and, yes... I was up to something LMFAOO but so basically I was planning on you, me, and my friend all go on a trip to a old mansion in the woods!!"

"No. I'm not doing that."

"Oh come on! You said you wanted to try out new things!! This is your chance!"

"When I meant try new things, I didn't mean this Ruby."

"☹️ cmon babe pleaseeee it will be fun, I promise!"

I look at the text Ruby sent me for a while, actually deciding if I should go or not. "I guess I could go. This could be the start to my new journey." I think to myself.

......"This could be it."......
