Eclipse

"Sir! Come here! A huge energy signal has just spiked. Look, another." said a sandy blond haired man staring at a shivering monitor, his nose almost touching the glass. A taller man in a long lab coat walked up behind him, grinning.

"Oh, Peter. Just wait, this is just the beginning." as if on cue, three more energy signals, just as big as the others, popped up on the screen. The monitor shook violently and tiny, hair thin cracks appeared.

Peter backed up away and more machines that were used for God knows what started shaking.

"S-sir?"

The room exploded, sending bits of brick, concrete, and metal flying along with the two men.

Once the dust settled, Peter blinked the dust out of his eyes and coughed. Right next to him the rubble exploded and out popped out the man from before and nearly scaring Peter out of his pants.

"Woooooooo!" the man danced out of the rubble, looking happier than ever. Peter stared at him like he was crazy, which was pretty normal by now. "Peter, my man. Do you know what this means for us? HAHA its like a dream come true!"

"Uh, Sir? Do you mind me asking... What is?" Peter was more confused than he had ever been in his life. He stood up and brushed himself off.

"Don't you see? Ah, no time to explain. We need to get backup to go inspect the five blasts, you know. Just in case one turns out to NOT be one of the subjects. I mean who knows, it could be..." 

The crazy scientist continued on but Peter was no longer listening. He had only taken this job because his parents wanted him out of the house and he didn't think this guy was serious about it. But he was so mistaken. Sighing, Peter went after his superior in an attempt to get some sense out of him.

"Uh, Sir? Do you need me to call the reinforcements now?"

"Eh? Oh, no thanks, Peter. They're already there."
