Betrayal

Chapter 1. The Beginning

I was texting in a group chat at home. It consists of six people, three of which are my best friends. The mother of the group is Diana, she is very caring and always asks if we are alright. The shy one is Kiomy, she apologises way too much even for something she didn't do. A people pleaser. The random one is Ivy. She is random, nothing more to say. I know her the longest but she moved schools for 3 years. We reunited all together in 7th grade as we go to the same school. And lastly. Me! I am Kaeli and i probably the chaotic one, im loud, funny and always stick up for my friends no matter the situation.

I'm on good terms with the other two. Emilia and Saskia. but they aren't as special to me as Diana, Kiomy and Ivy.

As i mentioned i am texting them in the group chat, i hear a notification as i check it i see Emilia's name on the screen.

She texted "Oh my gosh, the boys in my class were teasing me so much!!" I express a confused look even if nobody was here to see it. Another message from Emilia appeared.

"I sound like a pick me girl haha!" Once i saw the message i replied with "And?" instinctively.

Meaning as i don't mind if she sounds like a pick me girl, as long as she isn't one. One important detail i left out if that us four (Diana, Kiomy, Ivy and me) have our own group chat privately. We were facetiming during the whole thing. But Ivy didn't join the call as she had guests over and could only text.

But then Diana calls my name. I answer with "What?" Diana says: "Kaeli, Emilia texted me privately about you."

My face shows a confused look once more as i hadn't said anything bad about her. Diana continues with: "She asked me why you were so mean to her? I'm not sure what she means by that." quite frankly i didn't know what she meant either.

Emilia then leaves the group shortly after i've been informed about her private talk to Diana. We decide to stop texting but just continue the FaceTime instead.

Two hours later Emilia texts another spare group chat we had forgotten about and had no use. We are still facetiming as we open the message. She didn't mention anything about the sudden leave? I don't think that's right, im bringing it up.

I word my sentences and send it. "Are we going to ignore why you suddenly left the main group chat and are continuing to text us on another chat?" it wasn't the first time she left for no reason. So i am understandingly irritated.

She didn't answer an hour later. Me and the other two on the FaceTime end the call and i make my way downstairs for dinner as my mother was calling me.

After dinner i place my plate next to the sink and go back upstairs to see if Emilia answered. She did.

"I ONLY WANTED TO TELL YOU SOMETHING!" I immediately answered with the cold truth. "Who cares about that?"

"SORRY I HAVE MY OWN FAMILY PROBLEMS!" Emilia countered. Which is very false. Her family is great. Her mother is a kind soul and so is her father. Her brother is a teaser, but still nice. So i can't find a reason to believe her family is her problem.

"Tell me, why did you leave?" I say, trying to get her to answer the question for once. But she denies it and says she doesn't want to say it.

I decide to get an answer that evening. "Did i hurt your feelings with one simple word?" I still think its silly that she got offended by "and" because as mentioned its a simple word.

She finally answers the question about why she keeps leaving. Not really an answer though. "I don't even know, but it's not because of you!"

"Didn't you say i was mean to you? That i am a mean person?" I reply swiftly. But she also answers fast. "You aren't mean! I just said that because i was mad at that time!" May i introduce you to her most used excuse. Just because she says offensive things to people when she is "aggressive" as she describes it. Doesn't mean its okay to do so.

Emilia notices something during this. "Wait so Diana lied to me? Wow." Diana didn't lie, she never promised about not telling anyone. And she is loyal so she tells Kiomy and me everything people say behind our backs. Since she is pretty popular among the mean girls, even with no interest in them.

"Do you remember the hate group you were apart of about Ivy?" I mention a different dramatic event that occurred a few weeks behind.

The mean girls, Diana and Emilia were added to a group called "Ivy's hate group" by another mean girl. They all talked bad about her except one. Diana. She told Ivy first and Kiomy and me a few moments later. That way we helped Ivy put a stop to this and Emilia apologised way too many times as necessary.

But Emilie replies to my mentioning of that hate group after some time. "Please don't remind me of it, it traumatised me." I am officially confused. How is Emilia traumatised about something she caused to Ivy? Ivy is the person supposed to be traumatised or hurt in that case.

"How are you traumatised about something you did to hurt someone else?" I text back. I get how you can regret your actions, depending on the situation you can be traumatised. But in this case, there is no way.

I change the subject back to the current argument. "What did you think would happen when you talk about me to Diana? Diana is loyal to Kiomy and me. You still don't understand?" It isn't the first time Emilia talked about us to Diana.

"What should i say? Sorry that i wasn't loyal that day?" Keep in mind she is texting in caps. But i get angered by her message. It is completely false. "It was never one day. You talked about us daily to Diana thinking it was safe to. But even so. One day without loyalty is already too much."

"What else did i ever do to you guys?" She says as i notice she is taken aback. But i just reply smoothly. "You talk about Saskia behind her back too but still put on a fake face for her as you hang out with her. I know i am not on good terms with her but i feel bad."

That message took me a short amount of time to write. Even if its length is not that short.

Emilia sent another message.
