Luck of the Irish Twins series: Identity Quest (Book 1)

Prologue

In 1993, West Meath Mullingar Ireland, a little boy about age 3, looks down upon his baby sister and brother, who were being held by their parents.

The little boy points at the little girl in her mum's arms. "Look mommy! Hey eyes are blue!"

His mum smiled at him. "Yes Greggy!" she said. "She does. Do you want to help name them?"

"Yes!" Greg said. He reached out to the baby boy.

"Bobby hand him to Greg." Greg's mum said.

Bobby handed the little boy to Greg. Greg sits in the hospital chair looking down at his baby brother. He looked up at his parents and looked thoughtfully at them, then looked back to the baby. "Niall." Greg burst out finally.

Bobby smiled at his wife. "Niall..." he mused. "I like that. What about you Maura?"

Maura bounces the baby girl in her arms. She looks back at Bobby. "I like that too." she said quietly.

Bobby sits next to Maura and squeezed her hand with his. "Now we get to name the baby girl." he said.

Maura smiles. "Kelsey." she said without hesitation.

Bobby nodded. "Kelsey and Niall." he said. "I like it."

Maura grinned down at her babies. Greg smiles. "I'm a big brother!" he exclaims.

Maura laughs. "Yes Greggy." she said. "Yes you are." she looks from Kelsey to Niall. "Welcome to the Horan family little ones."

~4 months later~

"Vroom!" Greg said, sending his little toy car flying across the patio, then he got up to get it.

Maura and Bobby sat on opposite sides of the patio, watching him play. Bobby kept shooting glares at Maura, who held one twin in each arm, avoiding his gaze. Bobby got up. "Greg!" he called.

Greg looked up and grabbed his cars. He ran into his dad's arms. "Yes daddy?" he asked.

"Mommy is going to take the twins to the park." Bobby said. "And we are going to the shop."

Greg grinned. "Yay!" he said. He started squirming, and Bobby put him down. Greg ran and gave Maura a hug. "Bye mommy!" he said and Bobby led Greg to the car.

Maura glanced in Bobby's direction, and glared at him. Bobby just walked away.

~5 years later~

"LEAVE!" Maura shouted at her husband.

Bobby stared at her in shock, then looked at his three children, Kelsey, Niall and Greg, who were watching their parents in shock. Then he turned and left.

Maura turned to look her kids in the eyes. "Greg take the twins to the park!" she snapped.

Greg stood up startled and grabbed Kelsey and Niall's hands, leading them out the door.

Kelsey stopped in the doorway and turned quickly, causing her long curly locks to land slightly on her eyes. "Mommy?" she said.

Niall and Greg turned to look at her. Maura also turned. "Yes Kelsye?" Maura said, running a hand through her hair.

"I-is daddy coming home?" Kelsey asked.

Maura came up to her daughter and took a ponytail off her wrist, putting Kelsey's long choclate brown curls into a ponytail. Maura pulled her into a hug and shook her head, a tear falling down her cheek. "No honey, daddy will not be coming home." Maura said sadly.

Kelsey pulled away and burst into tears. "Leave me alone!" she screamed. "I want daddy not you!" and with that, Kelsey ran down the steps and down the street, leaving Maura, Greg and Niall staring at her in shock.

~half a year later~

Niall bounced up and down in his car seat next to Greg, straining to see out the front of the car.

Maura laughed. "Niall we'll be there soon!" she assured him.

Greg grinned. "Mommy do you think daddy and Kelsey missed me and Niall?" he asked.

"Niall and I," Maura corrected. "But yes, I know they missed you two."

Maura turned the car into the driveway where a short brunette was playing in the front yard. She looks up and a smile lights up her face, her baby blues sparkling in the summer sun. Niall grins broadly and darts out of the car as soon as Maura put the emergency brakes on, and runs to the girl. "KELSEY!" Niall screams, flinging his arms around her and pulling her into a huge hug.

Kelsey squeals in delight, her chocolate brown curls flowing with her movement. "Niall I missed you so much!" she says happily. When she pulls out of the hug, she looks around. "Where are mummy and Greg?" she wondered.

Bobby came ut and scooped Niall up. Niall shrieks and claps his hands. "Daddy!" he yelled.

Bobby laughed. "Where's Greg?" he repeated Kelsey's question.

"DADDY!" Greg yelled and slammed into him.

Bobby laughed again and put Niall down. "Hey buddy!" he said. "How have you been? You been taking care of Niall..." he hesitated. "And mommy?" Greg nodded. Bobby smiles and picks him up, spinning him around. "Thata boy!" he said.

Maura rolled down the window. "Bye boys!" she shouted to Niall and Greg. "I'll see you tomorrow!" then she drove off without another word.

Kelsey's bottom lip started to quiver, and she let out a small whimper. Niall wrapped his arms around his twin sister and Bobby yelled some inappropriate words after Maura, words that should not be said in fron of an 8-year-old and two 5-year-olds.

That's when Kelsey burst into tears. "Mommy doesn't love me anymore!" she wailed and took off. She rounded the corner and that was the last they ever saw of her...

Yeah I'm back. So... The song for this story of the series will probably be Kiss You, by One Direction. There will be a link on the side bar of what Kelsey looks like when she runs away. And I am so sorry it is short, I wrote it in a notebook first and it looked longer so I thought it would be three or four pages. apperently I was wrong. So, keep reading, I will post tomorrow. I love you my little Wattpaddies! Bye!
