X-Virus/Cody POV:

I was running into the woods, away from everything and everyone. What had I just done? Whatever it was I don't regret it. I stopped to catch my breath, I sat up against a tree and put my bat next to me. I had just killed my adoptive father and a few other people. I broke into my fathers lab and stole some virus samples. I killed some guy by using one of the viruses I stole. It's not my fault. I was just curious on what sounds a human would make after a virus was injected into them, it disappointed me though. It's just the same as animals.

I heard a rustle. I stood up and looked around, grabbing my bat I cautiously walked over to where I heard the rustling. I then heard a whistle and a few mouth clicking sounds.

"Who's there.?" I asked, a bit frightened. But I calmed myself down when I reminded myself I had a weapon with me. I stopped shaking and then a kid, probably my age (I'm 17) walked out of the bushes.

"Get out of there... I know you, you have nothing to hide." It didn't seem like he wanted to attack me, so I went.

"Who are you?" I asked, frightened.

"My names T-Toby." I wanted to say my name, Cody, but something else came out of my mouth: X-Virus.

"Nice to meet you, X-Virus. Now come with me." I followed him. I feel as if I had met someone who would finally care for me, someone who wouldn't judge me like all the other people I met have. Everyone else said I was crazy, crazy for wondering what sounds humans would make when they died after being injected with a virus. I've heard the sounds animals make: high pitched screaming noises. Humans were the same.

Me and Toby walked for around 30 minutes through the woods, we stepped over fallen trees, walked across a tree that had fallen over a creek we needed to get over. He helped me cross by holding my hand, that made my face feel hot. I was probably blushing, good thing I was wearing a gas mask and goggles, otherwise Toby would have noticed. He was also wearing a mask and goggles. I feel like we would make great friends once we got to know each other more.

Toby also kept making clicking noises, and he kept whistling. And whenever he talked he would stutter sometimes. Maybe he has Tourette syndrome? I don't know but I don't care if he does or not, I'm still determined to become friends with him.

We came upon a clearing in the trees, and right in the middle of the clearing was a giant mansion. It looked old, like it had been built years ago, it also looked abandoned.

"We a-are here."

"What is this place?" I asked, I had to ask because I knew nothing about this place. I can't even remember the way back to the neighborhood I lived in from here, it's so far.

"This is where you'll start y-your new.. life. You'll meet the master s-soon. In fact, i'll take you to him then, I'll most likely be the one showing you to your room." Toby said. What did he mean my new life? I mean, I didn't necessarily like my old life, everyone except my father, was cold to me. But what would I start doing here? Who is the master? So many questions piled in my head. Then, Toby began walking. I started following behind him. We walked inside the mansion, I could hear yelling.

"GIVE IT BACK!! JEFF!!" I could hear someone yell. Then I saw someone in a black t-shirt, blue ripped jeans, white skin, and black hair run down the stairs and into what I assumed was the kitchen. He had a white controller in his hand. Then some blonde kid who was shorter than him, ran down the steps after him. He had a white t-shirt on, elf ears? Blonde hair, black shorts and eyes that had what looked like blood leaking out of them, falling down his cheeks.

Toby sighed. He then kept walking. We walked down a hallway for around 2 minutes before nearing what looked to be an office space. He opened the door and stepped inside, I followed. Inside there was a tall, FACELESS!? Man, in a suit. He frightened me and I could start to hear ringing in my ears. I felt dizzy and like I wanted to throw up.

"Boss, I-I brought him-" Toby whistled. "here, just as you asked."

"Good job my child. You may leave now." The faceless man surprisingly spoke. Toby bowed slightly and then left the room and shut the door behind him. "Now, X-Virus. You are now a member of our community. Don't think you can escape. It is actually quite peaceful here, so I doubt you would like to leave." He paused. "I will be assigning you missions. Sometimes they will be solo, sometimes they will be with someone. Don't question the missions and just do them."

I was shaking a bit now, I was honestly scared. What kind of missions? Why can't I escape? What did he mean? Questions filled my head again.

"You may leave now. Your room is on the top floor, the door should be open with nothing in it but a bed. It should be pretty easy to find." A tendril then shot out of his back and opened the door. "You may leave." I swallowed and turned around and walked out. Toby was standing right outside, it seems he was waiting for me.

"I'll show y-you to-" He made a clicking sound. "your room." I nodded and began following him again. Once we arrived at the stairs and started walking up, he asked me a question. "Not much of a-a t-alker?"

"No." I sighed, I honestly wasn't. I never really talked much unless someone showed genuine interest in talking to me or in what I was doing.

"Diner will be ready in around 37 minutes, so just come down to the kitchen in around that time."

"Alright.. See you then I guess?" Toby nodded. I smiled underneath my gas mask. Toby seemed so sweet. I like him. I walked into my room after Toby walked away. I closed the door and sat down on the bed. It was a basic room.

It had a window on the back wall by my bed, I'd have to get curtains for that. The floor was a sand colored carpet. I kinda can't wait to decorate it. It also had a desk in the corner opposite to my bed with a basic office chair. It was kinda small, but it was cozy.

37 minutes later

I was laying on my bed, listening to some music from my phone, when all
of a sudden I heard a knock at the door. I took one earbud out and sat up on my bed.

"Come in." I said and to my surprise, it was Toby who was at the door.

"Dinner is ready." He said then his head twitched. I put my gas mask back on and slid my goggles over my eyes and nodded. I was smiling under my mask. I enjoy Toby's company already. I took the other earbud out and set my phone and the pair of earbuds on my bedside table. We walked downstairs and into the kitchen, there was a quite a few seats open still.

"Toby! Come sit with me!" a little girl with brown hair and blood dripping down her face from a mesh of tangled hair and blood on her head. Is she okay? Toby nodded and signaled for me to follow and sit next to him. I followed him to the other side of the table and sat down in the chair next to him, opposite side of the little girl.

"Toby who's that??" Th girl asked.

"He's the n-new kid." Toby replied and made a whistle clicking sound. "His name is X-Virus." Toby added. The girl just smiled and waited for whatever was for diner to be put on the large table.
