"Ava, honey you have to eat your mashed potato's"

"More like slop."

"Ava you have been like this ever since you came to our children's home."

"I'm not a child I am a teenager." I murmured

"For God Sakes Ava! Go clean the girls bathroom." She handed me a mop, a wash cloth, and some soap. I pushed the door open into the girls bath room and started to wipe the sink down. I looked up into the mirror.

"Worthless" I said to my self as I wiped off the mirror. I looked out at the window. I ran over to it and got the stool out from underneath the corner sink and tried to fit through it. I could. I ran straight to my sectioned off bedroom and grabbed my school backpack I grabbed clothes food water and other supplies and ran back to the bath room and climbed out the window. I made a dash for it. I ran out of the orphanage and ran. I ran as far as I could. I ran untill I saw a gas station.

I ran into the bathroom and unpacked my bag I got out five dollars and stuffed it in my pocket I braided my hair and went out of the bathroom. I started walking along the sidewalk. It was starting to get dark so I decided to find another gas station and sleep in the bathroom.Walking far distances you are not used to is hardbut luckily I saw a gas station close by. So I went into the bathroom. I pulled my small sleeping bag out of the backpack and lied it on the bathroom floor. I locked the bathroom stall and heard keys. They locked the bathroom. I crawled into the sleeping bag and closed my eyes as darkness over took me.

I woke up to banging on the bathroom door.

"Just don't call me anymore ok!" a girl said

It was silent the bathroom door made a BANG sound. She left. I got out of the sleeping bag and rolled it up. I stuffed it back into the backpack. I hung the backpack strap around my shoulder and unlocked the stall. I walked out and decided to get a granola bar. The walk around the corrner of the gas station was ok untill I stepped in a fresh gum wad. That was disgusting. The door made a ding-a-ling sound as I walked inside. I went over to the snack section. I turned my head to the right as I saw a guy about my age picking out diffrent kinds of trail mix. He looked over over at me and smiled.

"Hi, I'm Jack." His voice was deep but not too deep.

"H-hi I'm Ava." I pulled my hair behind my ear and tucked it back.

"Nice to meet you Ava. Do you want to go get some coffee?"

"Sure, I'd like that. Let me just pay for my snacks." I was just about to give my dollar to the cashier when Jack said,

"Let me get that." he gave the cashier his dollar and also payed for his snack, "Now lets go get our coffee." I followed him out and he showed me where his car was. He opened the passenger seat door for me and held it open intill I was inside the car. He got in the drivers side and started the engine.

"So where are you from?"

"Where am I from? Well I guess I could say here."

"Cool!, I could say i lived here myself but that would be a lie because I am a runaway. When I was 10 I ran away from my orhpanage."

"Seriously?" I said very startled, "cause I am too! Well, I just ran away yesterday, but that counts right?"

"Ya, I guess it does!" He chuckled.

We pulled into Starbucks and I pulled the car door open. I stepped out of the car and there was Jack.

"Milady." He held out his hand.I silently giggled. I took his hand and we walked inside.

"What do you want?"

"Um. Whatever your getting."

He walked up to the cashier and said,

"Two mocha frappee's" He handed the chashier the money and we waited for our drinks.

"Two Mocha Frappee's" A man yelled.

He went up to the tall table and grabbed our drinks. He handed me my drink and we sat down. I started to watch the news on the tv mounted in the corrner of the walls.

"BREAKINGT NEWS"

"A young girl at Children's orphanage has Ran away."

"Um Jack" I pointed to the TV.

"It's okay Ava they don't really go looking for people like that"

"O-oh okay g-good." The little Ava inside of me was petrified but, The older Ava was not scared because she was with Jack. And Jack was safe.
