It was mid-december and the Wayne family was relaxing doing their own thing
Damian and Marinette had known each other for over a year and had recently started dating
Marinette had feelings for Damian, but one thing she refused to do was leave Damian in the dark about who he was opening up to
"Shaytan?" Mari asked, her voice muffled by his chest. "Yes Habibiti," Damian answered. Mari sat up to look him in the face. "I know this is a kinda random time, but I can't wait anymore." She looked down at her hands as her palms got sweaty. The only other people she'd brought this up around were Chloe and Nino since they knew her since childhood.
Damian sat up too worried why Marinette was so nervous. He gently took her hand in his. "You can tell me Angel." He understood opening about a past you were ashamed of. Marinette had helped him and his family so much, he only wanted her to receive that in return. Marinette felt slightly better at this. "Okay. Um it's about my old crush.... at least..that's what I called it. His name is Adrien Agreste... you might have heard of him. He gave me an umbrella on my first day of tenth grade." She deeply inhaled. "After that I developed an obsession with him. I cut out pictures of him from magazines and it got so bad that I memorized his schedule. That feeling towards him clouded my judgment in some cases, even as Ladybug. I-i used the miraculous to go through his window and that caused a villain that basically ended the world, which I barely managed to fix. " Marinette looked down in shame, but she needed Damian to know.
"Because of my clouded judgment Master Fu lost his memories, and Hawkmoth temporarily got almost every miraculous." Marinettes voice started cracking and she put her face in her hands. Damian pulled her close and shushed her softly. "Habibiti if there's one thing you taught me is that your past doesn't define you." Damian inwardly cringed at that, but when he broke down and told Marinette about his past as an assassin, those were the exact words she told him. She firmly stated that Damian didn't do those things anymore even though it wasnt his fault, and that he earned where he stood now. He strongly believed that Marinette should get the same treatment.
He removed Marinette's hands from her face. "Marinette look at me," he whispered. She did, eyes and cheeks red from tears, embarrassment, and shame. In her head she didn't even deserve to be in this position. "Do you do those things anymore?" She slowly shook her head. "Do you know that was wrong and learn from that?" At this point he was directly quoting what she said. Marinette shook her head again. "But-" Damian interrupted her, "But nothing. Look at where you are now vs. where you were. You're a brilliant leader, and one of the strongest people I know." He took her chin in his hand. "You're forgetting everything else. You always put yourself before others and learn from your mistakes. You saved me," he cupped her cheek. "So let me save you."
Bonus:
Dick is bawling his eyes out from listening after walking past their door. He couldn't help but listen to how Damian calmed Marinete down. He rushed downstairs to help Alfred plan the wedding. He had a case of Alfred and knee they were going to last.
