Thousands of miles away there stood a city. It's lights shone down on a silly little ball that looked as if it had been dropped in a pallet of color. It had lights of its own, people too. Nothing compared to the city in the sky though. If you listened closely you could hear the tolling of bells and the voices of the wise singing in harmony, trying to tell the people on this paint splattered sphere, their secrets.
I looked up and I saw the city in the sky and I heard the Angels singing. Tears blurred my vision, sending the stars in uncharted directions. Suddenly all I could see was black, the moon fell behind clouds and everything was gone. I lost sight of the city above and met loneliness in the dead night.
"God..." I prayed. "Please... I know you can hear me." I choked on my words. "I heard you can work miracles...I need a friend. Someone who will understand me and the way I think."
I'd spent weeks wandering through hallways with eyes turned towards me but their words seething with sin. Their lies filled the spaces between the freckles on my cheeks and I just don't understand why no one cares to know who I really am. I'm not like the rest of them. I see and feel things differently I just needed someone to understand that.
I looked up and saw the twinkling of the city far way once more.
"God please...."
A street lamp must have gone out in the dazzling city and I saw the civilians toss it into our atmosphere . The streak of a falling star raced down to Earth. I took it as an answer.
I picked myself up and brushed the dirt of my old jeans. My mom would probably be worried since it was close to 2:00am. So I began to walk down the familiar dusty road with cracked pavement named by the street sign of my forgotten desires.
