________________________________________Once again Sendak found himself completely alone in (Y/n's) large house while she was gone at work, causing the large male to feel oddly lonely. A week passed since he woke up and so far he could walk a little better, although he had to be careful not to tire himself out too easily because of his injury; (Y/n) told him that someone grazed a couple of the organs in his chest which was why she wanted him to rest as much as possible. Resting was nice and all, especially since she let him watch whatever he wanted while she was gone, but sitting around and doing basically nothing for too long drove Sendak mad and he wanted to explore his new surroundings. Obviously he wouldn't go outside, but the inside of the house was quite large and there were a lot of rooms he hadn't seen yet. After making sure his bandages weren't going to come undone Sendak slowly stood up so that he wouldn't be in too much pain, he had been taking painkillers but sometimes he still felt a twinge of pain deep within his chest.
Once he was standing mostly upright he slowly walked out of his room, thankful that he didn't have to duck down too far thanks to the tall doorways, or rather tall by human standards. There were a lot of windows around the house which meant there was a lot of natural light coming in, enough light to the point where (Y/n) didn't use artificial lights unless it was during the morning, evening or if the weather was gloomy outside. Sendak decided to go explore the kitchen first since he felt kind of hungry, (Y/n) left snacks and water for him but during that particular moment he was craving meat, preferably not lunch meat. The journey to the kitchen took longer than expected and he got lost along the way, but eventually Sendak finally found his way to his destination where he knew he could get something tasty to eat. The kitchen itself had a modern yet homey look to it, not at all like what kitchens in battle cruisers looked like, luckily he couldn't remember any of that
On his way to the refrigerator Sendak caught the scent of something strange and his ears twitched when he heard something scurrying around nearby, or at least he thought that he heard something since his hearing wasn't quite back to normal yet. Sendak just stood there for a few moments, standing perfectly still and twitching his ears ever so slightly as he listened to the odd scurrying sound; there was something tiny in the kitchen with him and he was determined to find out exactly what it was. Since (Y/n) lived in the middle of nowhere mice tended to invade her home from time to time; she often humanely trapped them so that she could set them free outside, unfortunately they just kept coming in and getting into her pantry. Once he located the source of the sound Sendak slowly stalked over to the pantry as quietly as he could so that he didn't accidentally startle something that he might consider prey, just because he had amnesia didn't mean he forgot how to hunt. Sendak quietly opened the pantry door and looked around for a moment, ears perked forward until he spotted a tiny gray creature with a long tail nibbling on some of (Y/n's) favorite cereal that it got ahold of by chewing through the box and the bag inside of it; the mouse looked at Sendak and he looked at it, the large male only seeing it as prey that he could eat.
"I have you now, thief." Sendak whispered after he quickly scooped the mouse up in his right hand before it could get away, feeling his heart beating faster from the excitement of catching live prey for the first time in a very long time.
He didn't know every kind of Earth animal, (Y/n) had only told him about a select few thus far, but he could easily tell that the mouse was an unwanted visitor in her house and he took it upon himself to get rid of it for her. Sendak hadn't properly hunted any live prey since before the paladins came to save their planet, although since his memory of that event was blank he focused on properly disposing of the mouse in the only way he knew how to. After getting the job done he still felt hungry and went to the refrigerator, the mouse was tiny and wasn't much of a snack for him, luckily he found something just for him in the fridge that (Y/n) left behind in a container. Sendak felt a sense of pride for protecting her home from the tiny gray invader, unfortunately he couldn't save the box of cereal and he would tell her about it after she came home. He couldn't wait to fully heal so that he could hunt for real, unfortunately until then he had to stay either in (Y/n's) house or her yard so he wouldn't aggravate his injuries.
__________
The veterinary clinic wasn't too busy much to (Y/n's) relief and she was able to go home a little earlier than usual; she stopped by one of her favorite restaurants to get enough takeout for her and Sendak to eat for dinner instead of her having to cook something. As much as she enjoyed giving cute animals check-ups earlier she couldn't wait to go home and see what Sendak had been up to, although she didn't think he would have been up to much seeing as he couldn't do very much until he was fully healed. After returning home, taking her shoes/sandals off and hanging her keys up (Y/n) found her large houseguest sitting on the living room floor while casually and carefully flipping through one of the magazines that she kept on her coffee table. Sendak heard (Y/n) come home and walk into the living room, turning his attention towards her after placing the open magazine on the coffee table. He couldn't read English but he could look at the pictures, he honestly didn't mind not being able to read any of the articles.
"I see that you've been keeping yourself busy. Anyway, I brought some takeout for us to eat from (F/r), I made sure to get something with meat for you." (Y/n) greeted Sendak with a friendly tone whilst holding the paper bag with the four takeout boxes in it, happy that he found something to do.
Sendak greeted (Y/n) and politely thanked her for bringing dinner for them to eat, once again feeling a little flustered; he didn't know why, exactly, but he felt as though deep down sharing food with someone had some significance. He slowly stood up and followed her to the kitchen where they could eat at the breakfast nook, thankfully Sendak could sit on the chairs and not have to worry about accidentally breaking them since they were a lot stronger than they looked. (Y/n) put the food on the counter and got some silverware out of the silverware drawer, placing each piece on the counter before she took two cups out of one of the cupboards so they could have something to drink during dinner. She couldn't wait to dig in and start eating the delicious smelling food and she could tell that Sendak liked what she brought for him, although she could tell he had something on his mind, probably something he did while she was at work. They ate in silence for a few moments once they were seated, both of them enjoying the tasty takeout for a few moments before Sendak decided to break the silence.
"While you were away I found a small furry gray creature with a long tail in your pantry eating your favorite cereal." Sendak said when he put his fork down for a moment, looking at (Y/n) so he could talk to her properly.
"You mean a mouse? Great, now I'll have to get a new box." (Y/n) queried; she wasn't happy about a mouse eating from her favorite box of cereal, so she would have to throw the old one out and buy a new one so she could avoid catching any illness the mouse might have been carrying.
"I took care of the issue for you, the 'mouse' as you called it will never bother you again." Sendak told her, feeling a sense of pride for getting rid of the tiny invader.
"What do you mean?" (Y/n) asked him with curiosity, feeling a little unsure of what he meant by it wouldn't be bothering her again.
"I ate it." Sendak answered bluntly, yet he still felt oddly happy with the way he got rid of the mouse; of course he was happy, he had an instinct and he followed it.
"You ate it?! You ate a mouse?! That's just- And I don't mean this in a rude way- But eww!" (Y/n) responded with a shocked tone, although to be honest she should have seen it coming because Sendak was basically a giant space cat and from what she'd read about galra they were apex predators.
Sendak didn't take any offense to (Y/n's) reaction, she was a human and there were obviously differences of how their species got rid of tiny home invaders, so he just went back to eating as though nothing was different. (Y/n), however, still couldn't believe that he ate a mouse while she was gone at work, although she hoped that it wouldn't happen too often. Neither of them said much for the rest of dinner, but for different reasons; Sendak wanted to eat the rest of his food before it got cold and (Y/n) was having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that Sendak ate a live mouse. It was true that they both had a good day, and even though they did completely different things they felt content. After they were finished eating dinner (Y/n) planned on teaching Sendak about a few other kinds of native animals so that he knew what kinds of creatures were living around her home, she figured it was better for him to be able to identify each animal.
