Now that we have some basic geography and world building down, let's dive into this world for real, and get to know how I got to be here, and why I'm writing these stories.

Growing up, I really adored Avatar: The Last Airbender, and I also loved writing. I would spend hours and hours writing in my room and thinking up new ideas for stories that I could write and share with my family. As the oldest of seven cousins on one side, and eight on the other, I was always thinking of new ways I could be the cool older sister and cousin that my family would look up to. Even now, as I continue to write this book, I think about my cousins and what kinds of things they would like to read about in my work.

One day, in the summer of 2020, I had been watching Avatar with my younger brother and sister, and decided I wanted to pick up writing again. I hadn't written since elementary, but those were just little picture books. So, I sat down with my laptop, opened a new word document, and started writing what was already in my head. I took my two loves and smashed them together, making (at the time) a little fan fiction about me and my friends in the world.

Now, if you had told the me back then that now, the story would be so different, I wasn't friends with any of those people I was writing about, and I was beginning to actually post about it for people to read, I would've died. Younger me couldn't have lived without those people at the time, and they wouldn't have believed that there would even be one person out there who would read my writing. But yet, here I am.

As the story grew and time passed, I did end up changing a lot about my characters, and the storyline. After a tough number of weeks with my at-the-time "friends", I went home and tore the story apart. I couldn't write about people that weren't my friends anymore. So, I made the ultimate decision to make all my characters fictional, and it was the best decision I've made about this book. I continued to write, through the rough times, the sad times, the scary times, and finally the happy times. This book has been through a lot with me, and it holds a very special place in my heart.
