The moonlight painted silver ripples upon the Han River's water surface, casting a gentle glow . On one side, groups of people gathered around crackling bonfires, their faces illuminated by the flames as they shared stories and laughter.
Couples strolled hand in hand on the opposite side, sharing hushed conversations and laughter . The night air was filled with the sweet scent of nearby blossoms, mingling with the faint aroma of sizzling food from the nearby food trucks.
Between all the noise, Jimin found himself enjoying the peace of his solitary walk. The faint howling of the cold wind and distant chirping of crickets were his companions, and the peaceful solitude allowed him to reflect on the simple beauty of the world, even in the midst of all the noise around.
He tightened his coat a bit more, feeling the chilling breeze of the night on his skin. His mind wandered back to the times when he used to come to this riverside solely in the hope of catching a glimpse of someone special. A sad smile curved his lips as he remembered how foolishly he had fallen in love with a man he had only just met.
The ringing of his phone in his pocket brought him back to the real world. He retrieved it and glanced at the screen, only to see a name he hadn't seen in a while. He felt like he had been caught red-handed, remembering his one-sided love.
"Hobi hyung!" he whispered to himself. Hoseok was the only link connecting him to his one-sided love in this world. The name brought a flood of memories, both sweet and painful, as he contemplated whether answering the call might bring back something he thought he had moved on from.
He sighed but ultimately decided to answer the call. "Heyy, Hobi Hyung! Long time!!" Jimin greeted Hoseok with a cheerful voice.
"Hey Jimin!! Are you in bed? I didn't wake you, right?"
"No, I'm just taking a walk outside! Are you okay?"
Hoseok let out a deep sigh. "I know it's out of the blue asking for help, but it's Joon!" He said it in an awkward tone.
"Ohh!" Jimin stopped in his tracks, taking a deep breath, realizing that this unexpected call from Hoseok was in fact going to open up the pandora's box once again.
"Can you go check on him? I'm on my way to Gwangju to meet my parents. Kevin called me and said he and Eun were in the bar arguing, and Joon went home drunk. He's not answering my calls, and I don't really know who else to call."
"He went back to Eun?!" Jimin asked in surprise.
"Yeah, it looks like it," Hoseok said.
Jimin sighed and sat down on one of the benches nearby. Hoseok could sense the wheels turning in Jimin's head, making him continue.
"I know... I don't know how many times he's going to do this and hurt himself. He should have left her for good years ago. I'm sorry, Jimin. I know you both are not that close nowadays, but can you please help me? He doesn't have many friends who can call at this hour too. Please! I'm getting worried over here."Jimin didn't know what else to say to Hoseok. He understood the situation of Namjoon's controversial relationship with Eun and how it had pushed Namjoon to the brink of insanity multiple times. "I'll... don't worry, I'll go."
