TW: Implied cannibalism?
(This is the idea of what the house looks like)
...𝐒𝐇𝐄 gruffed in frustration as she slammed her hands down on table as she looked down on them, a frustrated and helpless look plastered on her expression of her face and a few veins appearing in them.
Series of books and notes were spilled all over the desk and some fallen over pencils, a few viles were shattered to pieces and only one remained which was filled with an unknown scarlet substance inside of it.
The woman rubbed her forehead and closed her eyes as took some deep breathing to calm herself down before letting out a loud exhale and just looked up at the ceiling with ponder and slowly sat down on the chair.
She then hung her head low with her hands resting on her forehead, and just sobbed quietly to herself after finally cracking at the emotional pressure she was being put through at this very moment, how fortunate for her. Feeling the tears of her frustrations streaming down her cheeks like a water fall.
Her parents had passed away from the harsh winters that reigned down on them, sacrificing their own well being and starved themselves as they couldn't be able to ration out food in the unforgiving cold just so they could feed their food to her and her two younger siblings. Their house was also a little far away from the village that they would freeze before they even step foot on it.
The girl held a hand to her mouth to hold back a slight gag of disgust, she remembered it so clearly no matter how hard she would try to forget about it. After they died, it was getting harder and harder to care and feed her younger siblings, and herself.
So.... Really, she had no choice but to do it. It felt wrong, but her parents told her to do it if there was really no other option and they were fine with it as long as their children lived their lives. Biting her lower lip as she stifled their cries, forcing away her that begged to be let out of her system, remembering how she had to cook it like any other meal. It made her disgusted, regardless if they approved of it or not.
She kept the secret away from her two younger brothers, they were still children and she couldn't let them know about what actually happened to their parents. Making up that she buried them before another snowstorm would come in the garden, knowing how they used to enjoy it. She felt terribly guilty and if she ever tells them, they'd probably think of her as a monster regardless if they knew their parents agreed. And honestly, she couldn't blame them at all either.
She held her stomach, feeling like she was going to vomit, looking up at the reflection of the mirror in front of her, her black hair was a mess in it's neatly placed bun, some bangs fell on the right side of her pale face. Her dark circles around her eyes were slightly showing from sleepless night from the horrible guilt that brewed within her. She wanted to tear her own insides out. Puke it out, but it was long too late, besides, she didn't wanted to leave the two on their own.
Mother and Father would be dissapointed if she failed to bring her promises up. And she didn't wanted that to happen.
"Yuki-Chan?" A knock can then be heard on the wooden shoji door, a soft voice speaking up snapped her out of her guilty concious and looked at the direction where the voice is.
It was one of her younger brother's voice. Yuki snapped out from her invasive thoughts at the sound of his soothing voice. Calming down the bubbling anger and guilt within her. Clutching her chest as her other hand wiped the sweat she noticed that emitted from her forehead, taking a deep exhale as she knelt down to rearrange the fallen items.
"Come in, Otouto-san..." Yuki called out just as she managed to somewhat clumsily put them back at the desk. Her younger brother then slowly opened the door. Peeking his head in, his night blue eyes glazed with worry and curiosity.
"Is there something wrong..? I heard something clatter and I thought..." He trailed off. Unsure whether to fully say it, noticing how she seemed so tense and anger ridden, despite her best on trying to hide it away, he's always a little observant for someone his age as a child.
"Oh it's nothing, little Yuto-san, just clumsily dropped the papers on accident. Now go back to bed. Your nii-san is busy with dealing something.."
Yuki quickly assured him, approaching him to gently usher him back to their room where his other brother slept in peacefully in. He was still concerned, but he finally gave in and left the office himself and walked back into the room. Lookijbg back one more time. Saying his goodnights as he shut the shoji door. Their room was just across the office so it wasn't that far and understood why he heard it.
Yuki merely waved him with an exhausted smile. Closing it after he was finally gone, leaning against it and slid down until she was now sitting down on the ground with a heavy sigh from her rosebud lips. Rubbing her forehead as she felt a headache.
Winter finally ended nearly a month ago and now she's in charge of the entire house and caring for her two younger brothers. It wasn't an easy task as she also took her father's farming work, even with the insistent help of her brothers, it didn't lessen the rest of the work on her plate.
Their parents weren't rich per say, but it was enough to give them a good home and feed all of them. But after their passing, they gave all of their saved up money for two decades to her, trusting their earned finances to the eldest. But it was only enough to last them for a couple of years at best now since she used the other half to pay their depts for the people they hired and had to fire them afterwards because of their budget.
Yuki then had to restrict that remaining money for their basic needs and instead work the labor for them when they needed something so she can buy it for them. Never having the time to get herself something as her brothers are always her main priority.
Yuki kept the remaining yen they had in a safe and hidden away with a key only she has, and hid the safe somewhere in their home with the key always hidden with her. Yuki was already feeling stressed out, but she needed to tone it down as her brothers grew more concerned for their nii-san. Thinking that maybe she would get them somewhere to eat in one of their favorite restaurants with the money she just earned within the past week just for them. And hang out with them for an upcoming festival near tokyo.
She stood up slowly from the ground, her legs wobbled slightly, leaving the office to go to her own room next to it. It was nearly barren with just a futon next to the wall. A crimson carpet along with a small table at the center with a lamp on top that's yet to be lit.
She slid the door close as she flopped down on the futon. Pulling the covers over her body, a small smile on her lips as she thought about their plans for tomorrow morning to finally hang out with her two brothers after so long due to the work she had to do now on her own.
Yuki turned up to look at the ceiling, her eyes gazing for who knows how long the more she thought of it. Her eyelids finally giving in, her vision blurred as her eyes finally closed from the exhausting work. Snuggling herself closely in the sheets and taking the rest she needed so much for tomorrow, still having some leftover work for just the day. But it'll be all worth it tomorrow night.
Yuki then fallen asleep, wandering into the depths of her dreams for the morning with a small smile gracing her lips. Snoring peacefully.
