The smell of paper and books, old, squicky floors, and wooden desks with reading lamps on them. Too geeky? I think not.
I've turned 16 recently and I could go to the public library near my school every day without limitations to what I'm reading. There are so many books on these shelves that are just waiting to be read.

As I walk down the aisles of books, grazing with my hand over their edges, I can feel the excitement growing. It is that tingly feeling in your stomach that slowly overtakes your body.

''Ouch!!'' is the only thing that I muster to say after books keep on falling, one after the other, on my head, hitting my arms and feet in the process.

My body hurts now as I am trying to stand up, this was a disaster! I always knew that lack of knowledge hurt, but I didn't need books attacking me.
Suddenly a hand pops up in front of me, followed by a chirpy, high voice ''I am so sorry! I don't know what happened to me, one moment I was taking the book out and the next moment I heard you screaming.'' I take the hand to help myself stand up and I am faced with the most gorgeous girl I have ever seen. She has long red hair, tied in a ponytail, with hair sticking all over her head, and dark green eyes with freckles spread all over her face. She offers me a very apologetic smile along with some mumbling about how she is always so clumsy.

Natalie. That was her name. She was a few years older than me, working at the library. But she looked so young. She helped me find the books that I needed and she gave me some suggestions on what I can read in my spare time that will go with my taste.

After her shift was over, we went to grab some coffee and donuts at the local coffee shop 'Doughnuts O'coffee' She loved strawberry-flavored doughnuts that were sprinkled with some chocolate, saying that they resembled her. I had a hearty laugh with her that day. And many days that are to come for us were filled with laughter. She was a beautiful person inside and out.

Right after my 16th birthday, I made a friend, one that at the time  I thought I would have for life.
