"Well? Don't just stand there! Get me my wallet now!" the man screamed, the girl cowered, and shuffled out of the room after nodding profusely.
She looked around a dirty, cluttered and rather smelly storage room, shaking her head and muttering to herself;
"I need a plan to get out of here else I'll be his house maid forever!" she exclaimed whilst rustling through cream-coloured boxes decorated with satin bows. Avril later found the wallet discarded in a dirty satchel, supposedly the one her father took to work every morning. She was about leave when a thought entered her head. Without hesitation, she began fishing through the purse until a fresh pile of dollar notes was discovered. She stuffed them into her skirt pocket and hurried out. She approached her father, bowed her head and said, "Here, sir. Your wallet."
The man took the wallet, his eyes never leaving his daughter's.
"You sure you didn't sneak anything...?" he asked slowly.
The girl froze, still looking down but quickly regained her composure.
"No of course not, sir. I wouldn't dream of it." she replied quickly.
"Usually I'd get my men to search you but I'll take your word for it. Now leave me."
The girl scurried out as fast as she could.
The sound of her footsteps was light, though, and she entered a tiny box room where she'd slept most of her life. Tonight, was the night she left her past behind. She hoisted her already packed duffel bag and fled through the window.
The man smiled as he monitored the cameras, as he watched his only child run away from him.
"Silly little girl," he muttered, as he turned away from the footage and left the room.
