September 19th, XXXX. I've been out on this journey for some time now, and I think I've begun to lose my absolute MARBLES.
She looked around in the dim forest surrounding her for her minutely check to see if some strange creature was stalking her or not.
I've heard voices whispering in my ear. Some sounding scarily demonic. Others were like the crisp voices of angels descending to bear me a wonderful symphony. I just wish to get this over with soon. It's driving me insane.
I've heard these woods were filled to the brim in wisps; Small, ghostly fae that trick travelers into following them into the darkness to bring them to demons...Unfortunately, I think that's where the voices were coming from.
At this point, the sun had started to set, painting the sky the color of a juicy peach which faded into a beautiful navy. The nocturnal creatures had come out as they do at this time, to Blair's dismay. She had to find some sort of inn quickly before she was completely alone in the dark.
She should've never gone on this trip. Micheal disappeared 11 years ago. If she couldn't find him then, she probably couldn't find him now. Blair had been searching for 8 long, cruel years, wishing to find some kind of lead to where he might be. But this was the only time that she decided to leave her homeland on the search. It was a difficult decision, but she knew it was unlikely that he stayed in town. She liked the wilderness anyways, even if it meant no cozy study nooks.
She grasped her scepter in her petite hands, gazing into the beautiful golden glow of the powerful jewel secured by twisting branch-like structured staff. She remembered the day her father gave it to her- She could vividly remember his strong yet soft face. He was the type of father everyone wanted- Playful, brilliant, someone to rely on... How she wished he could see her now...
Blair grew up in the country, away from the village which she visited from time to time. She could never forget the busy mornings; Going into town to buy ingredients, cooking breakfast with her whole family- usually there wasn't a thing to not enjoy about her quaint childhood.
However, not everyone appreciated her.
Her family had often gotten sour looks from the public because of the siblings' origins. They had been left on the doorstep of their cottage when they were babies, clothed with nothing but white cloth decorated with gold details. Not only was their appearance sudden and mysterious, they had strange markings and features that lead the villagers to believe they were some kind of monstrous creature, or bad omen.
She looked at the hands that clutched her staff. The tips were stained a purplish gray, with sharp claw-like nails protruding out from them. She put one of the clawed hands up to her ear, which was pointy like an elf's. They weren't the same as an elf's though. They drooped downwards towards her shoulders. She grit her sharp teeth, feeling the vibrations of her canines bumping against her molars.
No wonder they saw her as strange. She had a weird amalgamation of features from different species- and she didn't know where she belonged.
At least Micheal was by her side. He dealt with the harassment as well, and the strange features were even more prominent in him. Sharper teeth, dark markings on his face... But they endured it until the end. Well, they would've if he hadn't ran away. In the end, Blair felt a little like she was betrayed. He left without much warning, afterall- He was there with her through thick and thin, and just suddenly abandoned her in this cruel world.
"Lumai." She whispered into her staff as she suddenly noticed the sky grow a deeper navy and stars floating in the endless dusk. Almost immediately the scepter pulsed a bright golden light. She sat up and collected her stationary, packing it into a small box which fit inside the front pocket of her pack perfectly. She held her scepter infront of her so she could see through the dim shadows of the sacred woods.
