It was cold. She felt cold, yet a fire burned beside her? She felt a hand placed on her own, yet she couldn't feel it. She couldn't feel it at all. The only reason she knew it existed was because of the pressure she felt where it lay.
Despite the pressure on it, she couldn't move. She couldn't feel like she could move at all, nor could she hear, and it scared her. Her senses were gone for the moment, and she felt trapped.
The first words she could hear after so long of silence with the hand remaining on her own was of an older lady. She had spoken about someone missing her. But how could she miss someone if she didn't know who they were.
Who was she? What was going on?
She wanted to awaken, and she wished to move. So she did what she could. Focusing on her hand, she tries to move her finger.
She succeeds!
After realizing she could move once more, she felt as if she regained everything, all her senses. Well, almost all of them. All she had was hearing, sight, and smell.
Blinking her eyes slowly, the sight before her, which seemed blurry, began to brighten. Before her sat an old lady wearing a light blue dress, with a hat resting on her head.
“Oh” She utters, lifting up her hand. She grows surprised seeing the gloss on it but doesn't allow it to phase her. She waves at the two with an awkward smile “Hello there!”
Two loud screams echo through the castle as the once lifeless doll before them reawakens.
It startles the doll, who also screams in response, leaning as far back into the chair as she could.
Hurried footsteps could be heard from above, leading towards the stairs. A young boy was the first one down, running over to the old lady in surprise.
“Sophie! What is it? What happened?” He questions. The old lady lifts her hand, pointing to where the doll sat. Despite still looking like a doll, she was alive and moving.
The boy follows her gaze, stopping as he sees the once lifeless doll full of life. A gasp escaped his lips as he raced forward. His tiny arms wrap around her frame as he begins to cry.
Hesitantly, the doll lifts her hand, patting it on her head. “There there, it'll be alright, little one”
She felt awkward with the kid wrapped around her waist. Sophie noticed. Her eyes were weary, as if she didn't know who any of them were.
A few moments later, more footsteps could be heard, with a man racing down the stairs. He wore black pants and a white shirt tucked in. His hair was loose and slightly messy, but it still looked nice. He stopped at the bottom of the steps, eyes wide at the sight before him.
The boy sat still weeping with his arms around her, while she did her best to silently comfort him. Sophie had remained silent watching everything unfold, as Calcifer grew a bit dimmer.
“(Y/N)?” The blond man questions. His green eyes remained on the girl as she slowly twisted her head at the sound of her name being called.
“Hello!” She offers him a closed eye smile, slightly surprised at the sound of her name. The boy slowly releases his hold, wiping his eyes as he steps away. He looked up to the girl, a smile on his face.
“I really thought you were gone” His tears kept falling as he wiped them with his sleeves “I'm so happy”
“It's alright, little one. I'm here now” (Y/N) replies. She rests her hands on her lap, smiling at him. Her words caused the boy to tilt his head, confused. Why hasn't she said his name? Sophie had taken in a deep breath, placing her hand on his shoulder.
