Chapter 1

I had always had dreams but never been able to remember them, it was always just very vague. But this one was terrifying. Like bone-chilling terrifying. Lifting my gaze from the notes I saw the same butterfly I've been seeing since the moment I woke up from the nightmare.

My hands were trembling, desperate to dig my nails into something but I couldn't move when someone standing behind me jerked me out of my trance. Blinking to clear the blur in my eyes, I saw the lecture hall empty and the professor clearing his desk. Turning around to look who was behind me I saw Elena standing to my right with her silver long hair put into a messy bun, her golden eyes piercing me through the glasses with a question and tote bag hanging on her left shoulder.

"You okay?" she asked. Out of everyone in my friend group, she would just notice everything, no matter how much you try to hide it she would be able to pinpoint it. Either I was wearing my heart on my sleeves, which I am pretty sure I am not, or she was just very observant.

I started packing my bag as I shook my head at her earlier question, " Had a terrible nightmare, just can't seem to get it out of my head." I didn't really want her to ask any more questions, which I knew she would, so I stood up and changed the subject asking her what the next class was. Today was a Tuesday, which meant me and Elena had almost all our classes together as we were in the same major, In some of the classes we would sometimes meet June. She was always out doing everything but studying, I was surprised when she graduated high school, not at the top of the class but not even at the bottom.

"It's a break" she spoke after a long awkward moment where she would just stare at my face as if she would find the answers there, and then she abruptly turned around and started walking towards the door, indicating for me to follow her out. I came out to see Elena heading toward the right, where the student hub was.

"I thought we were going to the food court"

"Wewill," she raised her hand, showing me a text message from June TheTroublemaker, That's what everyone called her as she would always be up tosomething, either it would be her smashing her exes' cars (she's got of tons ofthose) or she would be spray painting on the campus walls 'I need everyone in the student hub, I just found something amazing.'

"After I see this amazing thing she's talking about." She completed her sentence, emphasizing the amazing part.

We had a small talk about our graduation next month, what we would do after college, and if any of us had applied for a job, It was mostly me talking and she just listened, occasionally giving small answers to show that she was indeed paying attention to what I was saying.

We were a few feet away from the Student Hub's door when we saw a hair in a ponytail visibly showing the blue ends I ideally knew it was Lexi the Scaredy cat, that's what we called her, I ran up to catch up with her when she raised her hand up to my face when I caught sight of her, her usually lovely hazelish green eyes were filled with a bit of frustration, "Don't you dare speak to me, I didn't eat breakfast this morning and just when I was headed to the food court, June has something to say. Can you imagine just how-"

I see now what the frustration meant. She was stopped mid-sentence by Elena shoving a sandwich in her mouth. "Calm down, girl. See, you got yourself a little sandwich, no need to be all grumpy." Elena spoke trying to calm Lexi down.

She is very lovable until you take away her food.

I opened the door to the room and was mesmerized, yet again. No matter how many times I entered this place, it always left me in awe.

The student hub featured a spectacular glass ceiling, allowing natural light to pour in and bathe the area in warmth and brightness. As the sunlight filtered through, it cast mesmerizing patterns across the room, illuminating an interior adorned in shades of green and brown, reminiscent of a lush forest floor.

The centerpiece of the Student Hub was the glass ceiling, through which the passing clouds painted ever-shifting pictures upon the room.

On sunny days, the vibrant foliage surrounding the building cast dancing shadows, transforming the interior into a serene oasis.
