Hotlink is a "Mechatronic Engineer" by trade but a gadget geek at heart. You'll never find him without his tool belt, welding goggles, and an enthusiasm to tinker up a new device to fit the needs of the moment. He's always ready to to geek out over an awesome gadget whether made by him and his friends or not, and just about as ready to tinker with it if possible purely for his own enjoyment. One of his favorite creations of his own is a flamethrower he built from scratch. While Hotlink and Starscream don't interact directly much, Starscream does have a great trust in Hotlink's abilities.
