Serenade of Goodbye

The morning sun paints a warm glow across the resort. The birds are shouting at each other and the palm trees are waving to say goodbye for them as it's the last day for them at the resort. A good way to start the day.

James woke up start time lapsing the sun with his camera. As the time being, he saw a notification pop up from the top of the screen. It is from Lexa.

His thought unstable, he must choose either he can get a beautiful recording of the beach or immediately text her.

James: (no no please not now, I just started recording the view)
James: "ah, screw it"
Lexa: "hey James, are you already wake up"
James: "umm yeah yeah, I just wake up haha"
Lexa: "what's that weird laugh? You woke up earlier, right? Can we chat for a bit?"
James: "haha you caught me. Sure, what's on your mind"

James waiting for her message, the word "typing..." makes his heart racing.

Lexa: "Last night, you encourage yourself to share something special for me, your thoughts and feeling"
James: "I'm glad I can express myself, and I'm ready for anything you'll say"
Lexa: "you know, when someone opens up to you, it's a sign of trust. It means they see you as someone special, someone they can connect with"
James: "I guess you found the clue, and indeed, I see you as someone special"
Lexa: "We know each other for years, but the brief encounter that created the cherish able moment. So I'm thinking, maybe we can explore this journey a bit further"

A genuine smile appears at James's face

James: "Do you mean by this, is..."
Lexa: "yes, I accepted you, as my lover"
James: "I.. I'm, speechless, I was usually good at words. B-but, I'm out of it for now"

Lexa laugh out burst. This is her first time hearing James being speechless

Lexa: "you're cute James, that's why I said it last night. See you later babe, I want to sleep again"

James forgets everything that he thinks before. He becomes as light as a feather, he put his phone beside the pool. He spread his arms, close his eyes, and ready to fly.

But, unfortunately, gravity exist, so he let himself fell to the pool.

Today's their last day at Makassar, they decided to fill their last activity with a party full of karaoke.

Lexa starts singing, her voice of an angel amazes them. They never expected she'll reach a high note.

After she finished, James standing up from his couch, hugging her from behind. His arms circling around her waist while his head is on her shoulder.

James: "nice singing, babe"
Lexa: "haha babe, that one's for you"

She turned her face to the left, seeing his eyes, and give him a gentle kiss

Billy: "huft, it's getting warmer in here, isn't it"
Jessica: "yeah, these new lovebirds are now controlling the weather I believe"
Daisy: "well, congratulations for both of you"

2 hours later, Billy, Daisy, and Lexa are packing their clothes and preparing to go home while Jessica is sitting on the couch to relaxing herself

James: "so, how was it?"
Jessica: "heyy, yeah it's tiring"
James: "not the karaoke, I meant the trip. Was it all according to your plan?"
Jessica: "ohh haha yeah it went well as you see now. I think everything that I need to do is done, thanks to you and the others"
James: "thank you, Jess, for this brief moment you make"
Jessica: "no need, mentor. I'm thinking of what will happen for us"
James: "hmm? You mean?"
Jessica: "our exams is over, you'll graduate next year, together with Lexa and Billy. Billy will probably stay with Daisy and you'll probably move out with Lexa. And Cece, we have to leave her here, with her own life now"
James: "we'll still be together even though they're distances between us. Come on, let's prepare to go home"
Jessica: "can you, accompany me to say goodbye to everyone else first?" > Serenade of Farewell: ----------
The trip ended, with James with his new lover. Billy with his understanding towards Cece and his deeper connection with Daisy. Jessica with her new feeling, with her relief of finding trust and comfort for her friends.
