I woke to the thunder booming outside. I wasn't going to get back to sleep now. I had another nightmare and I was scared. I got out of bed and went into the living room. James was sleeping peacefully and was making small snores.

I poked him in the arm. He opened his eyes and asked, " Are you okay?" I shook my head no.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Again no. What did I want? Why did I wake James up?

" The thunder woke me up. " I said plainly wiping my tears with my pajama sleeve. James nodded and I stood there watching him watch me. Then I knew why I woke him up.

"Can I sleep with you?" I asked hopefully

James scooted over so I would have room on the couch. I climbed under the blankets and put my head on his arm. He wrapped me up with his arms and the blanket and held me. We looked at each other some more, not knowing what to do or say next.

We laid there for a while, until he finally spoke.

"You are my friend. Who knew those meet and greets worked?" He smiled and I giggled.

"I guess my mom was right. It was a good idea to go. "

"I'd say so. Even though you were the only one I met " he laughed. It was a warm rich sound that made me smile wider.

"There could have been more people I guess. But it wouldn't have been as fun"

"Yeah. I would have had to give twenty more people a ride home".

" you can barely fit two!" I laughed "you would have to make a lot of different trips"
"Nah I would have only given one person a ride. "
"Who would that have been?"

"You" he smiled. I smiled back.
"Goodnight" I said
"Goodnight" James said back
We snuggled together and we fell asleep soon, happy and content.
