I opened my bedroom door to see Eugene, his hands in his pockets while staring down at the floor. I scoffed and began to shut my door when his foot went in the gap, keeping it from shutting. I looked up at him.

"Can we talk? Please?" He said quietly.

"Jeremiah is asleep-"

"Out here."

I sighed and looked back at my son before stepping outside my bedroom, shutting the door quietly. I looked up and Eugene and crossed my arms.

"Make it quick."

"I'm sorry, Bria-"

"Sorry?" I scoffed again. "You pointed a gun at me, Eugene. Sorry ain't gonna make up for that."

"I-I know, and I wish I could take it back, but-"

"But what? But I'm the one who got pregnant? That doesn't give you the right to point a gun at me! What if the trigger went off? Huh? Then what?"

"Will you just let me finish!"

I leaned against my bedroom door, waiting for him to continue.

"What I was gonna say is that I'm planning to make it up to you. Remember how you were with Jeremiah?"

I nodded.

"Well, I was gonna do your chores and watch him if you wanted to take a break or go out with Henry. The whole time your pregnant. And when you want to spend time with Jeremiah, I was still going to do your chores. I'm sorry for how I was today. I just don't want to see you hurt."

"I was even more hurt that you pointed a gun at me. Doing my chores and watching my son won't make that up easily. You lost my trust, Eugene. By doing that, how do I know you won't point a gun at my son?"

I turned and walked inside my room then, shutting and locking the door behind me. I leaned against the doorframe until I heard a door shut. I let out a sigh before returning to my bed and laying down to sleep.

The next morning, Jeremiah woke me up at ten thirty. He jumped up on my lap and starting jumping near my legs.

"Momma! Wake up!"

I smiled as I rubbed my eyes from the grogginess of sleep. "I'm up, honey."

"Pawpaw and Nana said to come and wake you for breakfast."

"Okay," I lifted him off me, "come on then."

Jeremiah quickly dragged me out of my room to the dining room. Pa and Momma were all sitting around the table along with Eugene. My smile faded when I saw him look up at me. Jeremiah quickly went around and sat next to Pa. I sat down at my place where a plate of pancakes sat.

After I ate, I decided to take Jeremiah with me to Blackwater. I needed a couple things for the baby soon coming. And I needed to get away from home for a little bit, as did Jeremiah. It was gonna be odd breaking the news to him about a sibling.

I tethered Rogue outside the general store. I jumped down and grabbed Jeremiah underneath the arms.

"Oh, you're getting too big," I said as I set him down on the ground, "soon, mommas not gonna be able to pick you up anymore."

"I'm getting big!" He said as I took his hand.

"Yes, you are." I chuckled. I opened the door and the store owner greeted me with a smile.

"Good morning, Miss."

"Good morning." I replied. I crouched down to Jeremiah's level. "Can you find some fruits and vegetables for Nana?"
