The time has come. The theatre director is about to announce this year's production. I clench my seat waiting nervously to hear the show I am determined to play the lead in.

"Mari.. you're grinding your teeth," Alya says, patting my shoulder. I'm not too sure why she's here. Alya has a strong dislike for theatre. Probably just gathering info for the school page.

"Sorry. I'm just so nervous. But I know this is my year, Alya. I can feel it." Chloe has beat me for lead actress since junior high. No one will admit it, but we all know her father was behind it. Now that he's no longer mayor, there's no way the casting will be rigged. I refuse to be the added role, a "trash can in the corner of the room." Not this time.

Ms. Tatou walks on stage. "Welcome students! I do apologize for the wait, but I am excited to announce this year's theatre production."

Adrien

The auditorium smells of happiness and eagerness. I am only here to please my father. He doesn't seem to understand that I have no interest in this career he's molded. Especially if it's with Chloe. It's not that I hate theatre, but when it's forced and with her, I'd rather be akumatized. Ms. Tatou has been rambling for a bit now. I start to gather my things when I hear it.

"Heathers! Took some work, but this year we will be doing Heathers!" The room fills with excited chatter. "Heathers" is my second favorite film. Behind my mother's of course. And my favorite musical of all time. For once, I sit back down to listen to the details. I can't wait to tell my father!

I push my way through the crowd for the signup sheet. As I grab the pen, someone else has reached for it too. I jump back, knocking down a couple students. Adrien just touched me.. Adrien is in the same room as me. I, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, touched Adrien Agreste. Of course he's signing up. His dad practically forces him to. Which means Chloe will get the lead again. Meaning I will be a trashcan again and never get to marry Adrien, have two kids and a hamster named-

"Girl you good? You've been standing here frozen. Everyone left already." Alya brings me back to earth. I quickly write my name and head to my locker.

"Why don't you just confess to him? Instead of just fantasizing about the future?"

"Because I can't just tell him! He's perfect and the confession has to be perfect too." Swear she doesn't get it. But this is not my biggest issue. How can I nail this audition if he'll also be there?

Adrien

"Absolutely not! Do you not know what this will do to your image? My image?!? I forbid you to participate in this vulgar show!" My father's words replay in my head as I stare at a plate of food in my room.

"Maybe your father is right," Plagg says. "It's not like you enjoyed doing these shows. Are you going to eat the cheese on that sandwich?" I shove the plate away.

"I know, Plagg. But I was actually excited for this one. The one time I wanted to do it, my father forbade it. And with Chloe's father not being Mayor, she wouldn't be lead actress"

"Maybe this is good. Akumatizations are getting bad. You need to focus on your mission."

"Speaking of which, we're going to be late for patrol. Plagg, claws out!" Being Chat Noir seems to be my only escape.

Marinette

I barely make it in time for auditions. Monarch has been more active these days.

"Are you sure you will be able to handle all of this, Marinette?" Tikki pops out of my purse. She has been worrying about me lately.
