lily Danes stood behind the counter at Luke's diner sorting out receipts. Dancing around to the low sound of 'there she goes' by the la's on her Walkman when the bell to the diner rang out, before she could look to see who walked in her older brother Luke pulled at her arm.
"What's up Lucas?" lily looked up at the tall man's dull face, "what did i say about calling me that?" "not to..." "exactly, can you serve Lorelai I'm a bit busy here" lily looked towards the tall woman waiting to be served with a mug in her hand. "are you on a first name basis with all your customers?" the mocking tone in her voice made Luke roll his eyes, "Lorelai is a regular and by regular i mean 3 times a day every day so yeah i know her name." lily's eyes lit up "i get to serve regular customers? and on my first day, wow" Luke pushed past his sister following behind "what are you doing? you said i could-" Luke interrupted her fast spoken rant "i got it."
They approached the counter, Lorelai's face making a sort of shy, innocent look. "please Luke, please please please !" The tall man sighed lightly grabbing the coffee pot behind him, "How many cups have you had this morning?", "None.", "plus..?" he said knowing she was lying, "five-But yours is better!" the brunette woman pleaded like she was a homeless person begging for change. "you have a problem." Luke replied knowingly, Lily observed the conversation between the two not realising how much Luke really knew Lorelai and wondering how he hadn't mentioned her before now.
"yes i do, who's this?" Lorelai looked over at Lily just now noticing her presence. "this is Lilian, she's my little sister" lily rolled her eyes at the mention of her full name and the use of the word 'little', "its lily and i'm adopted, not related by blood which is why we look nothing alike" lily had a problem with babbling on and on like a 5 year old, she knew it was a problem and hoped Lorelai didn't dislike her for it. "yeah- she just moved to town over the weekend and needed a job so i gave her one here", "oh well thats nice of you. very nice to meet you lily im Lorelai- Lorelai Gilmore that's my maiden name im not married- but i have a daughter her names also Lorelai but we call her- Rory-" Lily loved the way she goes on and on about random things it reminded her a lot of herself in that aspect.
"Lorelai." Luke interrupted in a calm warning tone, "right sorry" the ginger haired woman was about to reply but Luke spoke instead, "i don't think you need anymore coffee." Lorelai's eyes went wide "no no i do i do, please Luke?" a small smile appeared on Luke's face, joy in making the brunette beg perhaps? Lily didn't ask she just watched as Lorelai's face lit up when he poured the coffee into her mug, "junkie" Luke said as she smiled bright at him, "angel. you've got wings baby!" she replied in a much happier tone than before, taking her hat off and walking towards an empty table.
