The Unselected Child

Chapter 3 - The White Coat

I wake up with a joint of a door slamming shut. I'm not stupid enough to open my eyes yet so I lay there using my ears to see where I am. All I can tell through my eyes is that it's a bright white room by how my eyes want to squint shut. There's silence other than a person in the room breathing. He's obviously for a note or some form of paper he's using since I can hear the turn of pages. Then the door suddenly opens again and there is small amount of mumbling that I cant heat properly, then there's footsteps and the door closers firmly. I count to 30 to make sure I'm along then I slowly open my eyes to assess my surroundings and see if I can figure out where I am.
My eyes take a while to adjust to the bright colours but when they do I realise I'm in a hospital room. I look down at myself and notice I'm not wearing my same clothes I was kidnapped in, someone must have changed me, someone must have looked at me naked. This makes me extremely uncomfortable that someone dressed me and bathed me since I'm not grubby anymore. I look around to access what to do next or an exit out of here when the door suddenly swings open inviting a guess with them.
"Ahh Ms. Raven, you have finally awoken. Excellent."
He's what looks to be a nurse working here, he wears a white coat with black boots that reach his knees, he's got golden hair that reaches past his glasses he's wearing and is holding a board writing notes on it. He walks around to a machine that looks like my current heartbeat is being shown on it and writes more information down on his board.
"It's all very good. I've seen you recovered well physically after that nasty fall."
All of a sudden, my mind flashes back to when I was kidnapped from the orphanage, when people took me from my bed and flew me out the window. I just now remembering that those men had wings, actual wings attached to their backs and that flapped without helping them. I pass out again.
