The sleek, moonlit night cloaked the ornate hotel in a shimmering veil of darkness. Lia Herondale crouched in the shadows, her every sense alert as she surveyed the elegant building that housed their target. 

A few weeks had passed since she and her unlikely comrade, Yelena Belova, had dismantled the Red Room. And now, they were on a new mission, to break the remaining Widows free from the clutches of the Red Room's mind control.

"Herondale," Yelena's voice whispered in her ear through the communication device. "Are you in position?"

Lia rolled her eyes, and Yelena could practically feel it. The two of them had become quite close since their first encounter, but neither of them would ever admit it. Instead, they chose to bicker incessantly like children.

"Of course, Belova," Lia replied in a tone dripping with sarcasm. "I'm just admiring the view."

Yelena snorted. "Stop being so dramatic."

Before Lia could retort, her eyes narrowed from her scouting position, noticing two widows making way towards where Yelena was situated. "There's two Widows heading your way on your left. Intercept them in 3 ... 2 .... 1."
