With hundreds of islands dispersed across enormous seas, this is a world unlike any other, full of mystery and rife with danger. And throughout the seas are those who live according to their own rules, who seek a life of freedom and adventure.
This is a world of pirates.
Gold D. Roger, the so-called King of the Pirates was executed in his hometown of Logue Town, and that very day sent the world into a pirate-frenzy. He had announced that his treasure, one of wealth, adventure, fame and power, was out there, and all they had to do was dare to search.
Dare to dream.
A new age was born, years later, an heir to a dynasty was born. The Great Pirate Era, setting off a race across the seas to find the Pirate King's hidden treasure, the One Piece. And with the heir of one of the most deadly bounty-hunting syndicates throughout the seas being born, and without a doubt being raised under their deadly code, made the hearts of the most daring pirates skip a beat if they even thought about it for more than a second.
Why are we afraid? They'd ask themselves.
150 years of bloody battle and assassinations had answered that question before. Before the birth of a girl with untamed raven hair as equally untamed as her spirit.
Pirates thought of the Tanaka Clan as the epitome of ruthlessness. If crews stepped on their territory or even dared to threaten any of their holdings, perhaps they'd find themselves with a bit of a leakage problem.
Blood leakage. External.
But the supposed monster heir to all this fled. Fled after enduring 15 years of watching the skies glow a bloody orange-red, gazing down at her blood-soaked hands, glancing at her reflection on the rippling waves of the sea only to find her mouth; her greatest asset, dare she say; covered in red, as if she were an animal that had its way with some red wine.
She was sick; sick of the sleepless nights where she would be dragged from her bed and left to fend for herself against a horde of grunts; sick of having the people she had grown to call her friends disappear in the middle of the night. There were nights where she'd wake up hanging by her feet, blood rushing to her head and revolvers inches away on the ground below; she'd have to grind her foot against the rugged rope, lose enough skin before she could dangle and reach, and then shoot her way out.
All in the name of training.
Tanaka Rei had had enough.
But who said running away meant giving up old habits?

THE EAST BLUE SEA, PRESENT DAY
Monkey D. Luffy never let Tanaka Rei catch a break.
The East Blue was one of the four seas in the Grand Line, and Rei vividly remembered it as a region teeming with beauty and peril, where both dreamers and pirates embark on their journeys.
