If her brother could stop trying to get the younger firebender to murder him, Katara would probably be much more relaxed. The older ones were pleasant enough, but the youngest with the weird ponytail was steaming. Literally. His steps into the village had melted the snow and soaked his boots and pants, and were now billowing steam up and around him as Sokka seethed at him. Katara was standing next to the older version of her brother, listening to the firebender his age explain who they were.
Katara thought she might be losing it a little bit.
Her older-self was bending steam away from the young firebender while cozying up to the older version. Gran-Gran was listening to them attentively, her back toward the exit. Katara was staring at the--
The Fire Lord.
Which everyone had conveniently forgotten to mention. His robes were crimson with ornate gold embroidery along the hems. Dragons, fishes, large animals with large horns, and dozens of others she didn't recognize decorated his clothes. A flame that looked suspiciously like Arfeq Allernaq tribe beadwork sat in the center of his chest. His hair was done half up in a complicated style, yet it hung around the middle of his back. A crown in the simple shape of a flame sat int the center of his chest. He looked regal, powerful, and wise.
He also looked like he was scared of her elderly grandmother. Which Katara didn't quite understand. The most harm Gran Gran could do was cuff you on the ear, and Katara wasn't sure she'd be able to reach the Fire Lord before he moved out of the way. She decided not to dwell on it.
"And you're...Fire Lord Ozai's son?" Gran Gran asked.
"Yes,"
"And now you're the Fire Lord,"
"Correct,"
"And you thought it wise to enter a decimated southern Water Tribe settlement dressed as such,"
"Well, in hindsight--I understand that I'm not a very welcome sight--I didn't want to just leave it--it is one of a kind--"
Old-Sokka elbowed him. The Fire Lord, that is. Was her eye twitching? The Fire Lord elbowed back. Katara rubbed at her eye. They stopped their tussling with a raised eyebrow from Gran Gran.
"What are you planning to do next?" Gran Gran says.
The adults blinked at her.
"We didn't think that far ahead," Old-Katara said as she looked over to Old-Sokka along with the other time-travelers.
He looked around, crossing his arms.
"How about someone else helps figure it out for once?"
"The only thing I want to do right now is tell Baby-Zuko you-know-what," Old-Katara smirked.
"Oh, Spirits," Old-Zuko cringed. "That's the one thing I don't want to do,"
"Can I do it?" Tall-Aang raised his hand in the air. "Please? You owe me?"
Old-Zuko sighed heavily, running a hand down his face.
"I don't...Whatever,"
The older siblings were covering their faces with their hands, snickering.
"OK, so, why don't you share with the group what you're doing on the ship,"
Old-Zuko groaned as Prince Zuko pulled a face.
"I'm searching for the Avatar," He stated proudly.
Katara, Sokka, and Aang all gasped as the Fire Lord looked at the exit past Kanna, looking like he would enjoy walking out until he fell into the ocean.
